And for those not following the official thread, tetsuoxb posted that the new Famitsu says the game has more than 40 tracks.

Looks awesome!!

PSP isn't as powerful as most people think, but things like being able to hold 40 music tracks are going to put it above and beyond anything we've seen in handhelds...

Seriously, of all the PSP games, Lumines gets the most attention

You're in the realm of hardcore gamers, so they're all familiar with the awesomeness that was Rez. It's no surprise that this game has a lot of hype behind it...

You'd be surprised, but most people I've talked to outside of the internet (like work office, etc) still think that PSP is something like PS1 in terms of hardware power. They got quite surprised when I say that it's more close to PS2 than anything.

This game looks awesome, but it will only be perfect if I can put an MP3 on my memory stick and have the game generate a puzzle based on that song.

Obviously what the world needs is Vib-Ribbon PSP.

I am just hearing at different Mondo Grosso tracks just because this game. It even hasn't been released and it has already make me discover a new group...Cool.

Scan from this week's Famitsu:
Confirms the existence of 40+ tracks, as well as showing the acquiring of skins when you get a high score. The skins and music change when you remove a certain number of blocks, but you can also select the BGM and skin for the whole game in Free Play mode. As you destroy blocks, the BGM has subtle changes too.

Not sure how that would work, as I think the game is 'layering' the track as you make larger and larger combos in the puzzle. You basically need a multi-track song file for that to work. It would be nice if it offered a straght out MP3 playback while you play the game though (without being able to change the music in any way)

This game is sure to disappoint, with expectations so high.
I'm gonna try to remain neutral, and hope to be pleasantly surprised:)

i learned about mondo grosso through lumunies too. awesome group. doesn;t hurt either to know that one of the x-members of dragonash basically is the group.

What's so great about a puzzle game? Is there something I'm not seeing (other than, what I perceive to be blind, fanboy hype :lol).

But seriously, enlighten me :)

Lumines is to puzzle games what Rez is to on-the-rails shooters.

It's as much about the music and design as it is the game itself. How you play affects the music, and builds it up layer by later.

I loved Rez, so really looking forward to this - puzzle games are very well suited to handhelds. And as with Rez, the music (a bit of it is on http://lumines.jp) sounds great.

I dont know . There's like eighty DS games just like this and people seem not to care.

Ive been trying to get the eri nobuchika vinyl of lights. Super limited and came out in November. Already pulling upwards of 50 USD on Japanese auction sites.

I loved Rez and was very excited when I heared about Lumines for PSP and how the director saw this as a spiritual succesor to Rez... Then I saw the screenshots and my interest decreased a little bit, then I saw the movie clips on IGN and now I'm not really interested anymore. It's the unique kind of immersion and style in Rez that made the game for me, I don't think I'll find much of that here.

I put a few of the Lumines tracks we know about up on ranobe. Based on the stuff that has been posted on GAF before, I figured this would be ok, but if it's not, I apologise.

The best Mondo Grosso song and one i hope that gets into the game is 光 (Hikari) Featuring UA from the Next Wave album.

Know what? Forget it... I don't want a preorder... I want someone to give me their PSP. Seriously. Anyone?!! Just give it to me? You'll have my undying love for all life eternal... PLEASE.

Wow! Thanks for the Mp3s! I've had shinin' in my head since TGS - that was the main track from the demo. I always thought it was Underworld. This fucking rules!
