NEW DETAILS: Check out some new information about Mario Kart DS.
In a recent interview with Hideki Konno, the producer of Mario Kart DS,several new details about the upcoming title were revealed. It is now known that the game will feature over thirty courses. Gamer's can also look foward to the fact that over half of these courses will be new additions to the series.

Konno also stated that up to eight users can play the title locally from a single cartridge. While in multiplayer mode, it will now be possible for each user to select the same character. For instance, up to eight gamers can select to play as Luigi if they so desire, as the game is set to display the name of the player above the racer.

New details were also given regarding the game's online mode. The game will offer an online experience for up to four users. The game's battle mode will also be making an appearance online, although cooperative play will not be supported.

Fans of the series can also expect improvements in the games Artificial Inteligence. Usage of the touch screen was also discussed. It will be possible to draw decals onto any of the games karts and touch screen steering will be available.
