Yeah, what's the deal? And why the hell doesn't everybody just make wallpapers that are 1600 x 1200 and just have everyone scale down/resize the pic via their PCs?

Exactly, I'm sick of having to scale up 1024 size wallpapers and having to live with a blocky background!

Yeah Konami wallpapers usually suck. ;( The drawings are nice and stuff, but they look like fanboy made ones.

Looks pretty poor to me. Artifacting and randomly shaped and placed overlays, not to mention what looks like a poor feathering job on Snake.
