To start this off, I think everyone who likes music should listen to The Go Find. It's so good, and dawning on me like when Postal Service hit. Absolutely dreamy and perfect for those lonely evening drives downtown.
Then a female artist I just discovered. Maybe someone's heard of her, but she's a very good listen. Her music comes in French and English, this being one of her French albums, and I'm impressed to find an artist who pays so much attention to each song the way she does. The album here is called Desormais.
And this may be old, but I have not seen it posted on GA forums, so I thought I'd point out Penguin Café Orchestra. They're plenty of fun to listen to, especially if you're a fan of The Books or The Album Leaf. Indeed, it is an orchestra, and the songs all catchy and manage to pale most other artists in the creativity department.
Also don't know if anyone's heard of Ben Gibbard' side project, All-Time ¡Quarterback!. It's this rather short thing he did on his own, and it's a treat as is anything he puts out. There's more on ATQ here: http://www.barsuk.com/web.cgi?atq
From the Garden State Soundtrack, I love him and so should you. Colin James Hay:
Lastly would be the Fruit Bats. My god, they're good. Absolutely stunning to listen to folk music.
And finally, some artists who deserve secondary recognition because you may not have looked into them the first time!
TV On The Radio
The Veils
Paloalto
On!Air!Library!
Four Tet
Lemon Jelly
Jets to Brazil
Teitur
