Stolen from Wario!

-Players with photo-realistic mugs, moving uniform cloth and perspiration. Players have real emotions

-20 different camera options. Dynamic camera (e.g. you're at the top of key and pass to a open player in the corner. The camera will go behind that particular player.)

-Better crowd noise, they're more pumped up into the game depending on whats going on. Players will shout out to pass or shoot the ball as well

-Lots of activity in the sidelines. Cameramen, cheerleaders, mascots, etc. You can even collide with these people. Dive for a ball and hit the cameraman and it'll show an instant replay at that partciular camera angle

-Gameplay enhanced using real physics to determine collisions. If body parts hit, it'll affect the offensive player driving up the lane

-Arenas rebuilt from scratch

Hot!

So they won't look like lifeless shells giving vacant stares anymore? :lol

I'm getting the 'other' NBA game, but damn, EA is leading the fuckin charge!

They have had a great 2005, and they aren't even done yet. GOTY: Battlefield 2 is pretty much a lock. Whodathunkit?

VAcant Stares? YOU HAVE A FUCKING DBZ AVATAR!!! Whole episodes are devoted to vacant Stares and wind blowing clothes.

I love that they're using new physics for the 360 version. I only pray this means they're doing something similar for Madden. For years I've wondered if there will ever be a football game that uses tackle animation AND tackles based purely on physics where no 2 tackles are ever the same. For example, when a receiver slants up the middle and I have my safety back there, I want to hit him and see the physics show what would really happen. Not a preset animation but a brutal "JACKED UP!!!" hit that is purely based on momentum and physics (basically a source engine for Madden). Of course I'd still like to see the trademark Madden animations as well.

This guy needs to work for EA NOW!!!! Forget the Carmack "physics are not the key" quote. Physics will rule next-gen.

I think Carmack point though was if you have everything controlled by physics then the developer can't predict what you're giving to the gamer. What if the physics based system doesn't deliver the excitement to the gamer of the scripted ones. Would the game become less enjoyable?

I've talked about physics based animations in the past, and I don't think EA will move towards that...though I hope so. VC have moved towards it, ironically with their NBA 2K5 game, and it was applied to the clothes...so it's no where near what I was talking about but it's close. It's heavy on AI too, so I don't know if we'll see it this generation.

EA Chicago has rag doll physics with knockdowns in Fight Night, some of them are hilarious :lol

Yeah well they were a bit jittery, but what I'm talking about is mixing that with AI to have more realistic character animations. In the case of being knocked out, it's pure ragdoll physics applied to the character...they are essentially lifeless.

But say for example, in a football game a player bumps into another, instead of causing the hit person to fall over ragdoll "dead" style, the player initially falls in the proper physics based direction until they realise they are falling and correct themselves by balancing themselves (by throwing up their arms to balance themselves, etc) It involves physics as well as AI...and the AI really determines if the player looks like a newborn baby horse trying to stand or a seasoned veteran football player regaining his balance.

Hmm.. that's a good analogy. Well, if they can't implement the advanced AI this gen, at least throw in the "dead" ragdoll animation when I smash a guy going up the middle :D

I think that's called scripted ragdoll physics. I think its cool. To whoever thinks that this is not going to happen they will be surprised come next-gen. It has to happen.

Well in the second Fight Night they gave the fighters heavier limbs, so that they didn't look as lifeless as the first game.

Heres what the NBA Live article says about physics

"We are now using real physics to determine collisions. This means players can really get tangled up. If body parts hit, it will interrupt the offensive player's path to the basket. So definitely expect a rougher brand of basketball in the next generation"

it sounds great. EA is seriously impressing me thus far as next-gen goes. i'll probably be picking up both this and madden, and i'm not at all a big sports guy. i am curious what 2k will show off though, as historically, they have been the better titles (IMO)

If Madden used this I would be forever greatful. I would also never watch the real thing again because that shit is like watching the real thing. AWESOME.

I agree. It'd be a revolution. One of the best things to happen to games. Next gen animation to match those graphics.
