New Prey PC screen

There is a MUCH better vid that I'm trying to track down with less quick cuts that starts out in the bar that you can see quickly in trailer 1. It shows portal after portal.

And the jumbo jet crash. Although you're almost better off not seeing it, since the actual combat and 'puzzle' elements shown to date have been pretty weak, so the sheer inventiveness of the environment may be 80% of what Prey has going for it.

I kinda liked the unintentional Picasso style they were going for originally.

i think you don't like DOOM 3, not the DOOM 3 engine. Quake IV (oh god don't start) has several large, open environments, and lots of sequences with 6+ enemies on the screen at the same time. I agree screenshots look plasticky, but in motion that lighting really comes to life.

you should watch the 20 minue Prey video from E3. It shows exactly what they're doing with portals, and it looks awesome.

I slapped my own forehead in dis-believe and kept it there until I read your comments in response to JackFrost. At least someone around here got a brain, good man!

Some hott new Multiplayer footage to cap off 1up's weeklong look at the game:

Honestly, the gravity stuff they're messing around with makes it look like Marble Blast Ultra with Gigantic Machine Guns, aka What Is Destined To Be The Greatest Multiplayer Experience Of All Time.

I think those rumblings of Prey being the sleeper that might shock Gears Of War might be pretty spot on. As long as they can keep the ship together, this could be a revolutionarily fun game.

Aside from the standard "grotesque alien/robot mixed with humans" enemies and the industrial sci-fi feel like so many other FPS, this game looks great. I love the Portal technology and so far the videos released hint at some pretty ingenious level design. Multiplayer will be a guaranteed hit if they can provide some fun weaponry.

i'm interested in the game, mainly for the differnce in gameplay that shoukld be introduced, but that multiplayer vid did nothing for me. reminds me of the quake/unreal style of multiplayer, where you just run around and shoot. not my cup of tea (please dont flame me or try to educate me, its my opinion)

The multiplayer looks like a huge amount of fun. I've always liked the look of the gameplay in this.

any word on community development tools for this? if you let twisted bastards get their hands on portal tech you could make some EXTREMELY SICK LEVELS.
They will be released alongside of the PC version.

I've seen this game in action and played some, pretty damn awesome. This will rock and easily will be the best shooter in 2006 for some time to come from what I've seen so far. Multplayer is crazy fun but the single-player is simply beyond awesome. Yes, when you think Doom 3 and Quake 4 you are getting in the right direction, but those don't do it any justice, this is so much more and has fantastic art direction.

They should find the way to allow PC users with modding tools to create custom levels, upload them to the game developers' servers and the best ones would be released free or for a small micro-transaction on XBOX LIVE.

Something similar to the Unreal Tournament bonus packs? That would be awesome.

Did anyone ever like it?

In any case I refuse to even look at screenshots of Quake IV, let alone install it and try it, cause that game has space AIDS.

If they got the engine doing decent things, though, then hooray!

I totally loved Doom 3 to bits. GOTY 2005 IMO.

People should stop thinking their opinions dictate the tastes of the world, you know.

Is this game being made by the people that did Turok 2 Seeds of Evil :lol :lol :lol :lol i mean seriously i know its already been mentioned before but if its anything like Turok 2 i'm sold on it. The weapons and all the crazy stuff makes me think someone either really liked that game or something.

I'll wait for the 360 demo whenever the hell that comes out =P

J. Allard seems to suggest that is exactly what they plan on doing with the 360 at some point.

Allard said the Xbox 360 will increasingly encourage developers to let their players add on to worlds and even sell their creations though a central Xbox store system.

"Gaming is the only medium where we yield control of the protagonist. Let's yield control of the director--and the producer," said Allard, a vice president at Microsoft. "We're going to take on the Wikipedia model. We're going to take on...the open-source model, if you will, for gaming."

It would definitely be cool if some legal mods were created for console games.

JAllard said:
If only 1 percent of our audience that plays Halo helped construct the world around Halo, it would be more human beings than work at Microsoft corporation," Allard said. "That's how much human energy we could harness in this medium."

HUMAN ENERGY!!! WOWZA!!!

I've been pumped about this game for some time. Even the little after-death portal thing sounds cool.
