Looks like Doom 3 to me.

If they brought Trent back to the soundtrack and actually made the game more gothic and dark, quake would be fun again. As it stands. Doom 2.9 :(

Meh...looks good. Like i said before all games are going to have a next gen look to them, i could really care less how a game looks now a days, it's all about content/experience/innovation nothing else matters.

Meh. Whatever.....I saw the footage and was pretty impressed by some of it. The last part looked really impressive for a FPS battle.

looks like.... ass.

Have to agree, and I loved Q2 :(

Horrible aliasing? Check.
Horrible ground texture? Check.

Are you sure this is a 360 shot, PhatSaqs? Looks like GF3 to me.

I never thought I would look at the Doom 3 engine and go 'meh'. Such is the power of the Unreal 3 engine.

Doom and Quake were already very similar franchises, it using the Doom 3 engine isnt suprising, but theres no excuse for it looking exactly the damn same as Doom 3 locale wise, the only reason to look forward to Q4 is the idea of actual GOOD plain deathmatch, which hasn't been done in awhile. If all they're showing is horribly bland shots of the single player, which look indistinguishable from Doom 3 theres nothing to be excited about.

Meh, its not as if these shots mean much as none of the Quakes had a very substatial SP, its just a terrible way to hype the game, and with raven developing too, theres nothing positive to go on at the moment, bit of a shame.

I've never played a Quake game before. That said, I've never been impressed by the Doom engine. So, unless this game has some mind bending gameplay it'll be easy to overlook. Now, if this shot was showing a new Jedi Outcast? Different story.

id Software Announces QUAKE 4 for Xbox 360

Top-Selling Franchise in Development for Microsoft's Highly Anticipated Next-Gen Console

MESQUITE, Texas, May 16, 2005: id SoftwareTM announced today that it is bringing QUAKE 4TM to the Xbox 360TM video game and entertainment system from Microsoft. Currently in development by Raven Software in cooperation with id Software, the game will be debuted at the E3 Expo in Activision's booth #1224 in the South Hall on May 18 at the Los Angeles Convention Center.

"QUAKE 4 utilizes the power of our groundbreaking DOOM 3® engine to transport players into a war-torn science-fiction universe graphically realized like never before," said Todd Hollenshead, CEO, id Software. "We're excited to bring the next generation experience to a new breed of console game fans."

QUAKE 4 is the first game to utilize id Software's revolutionary DOOM 3 technology. In the game, you are Matthew Kane, an elite member of Rhino Squad and Earth's valiant invasion force. Fight alone, with your squad, and in hover tanks and mechanized walkers as you engage in a heroic mission into the heart of the Strogg war machine. But, in this epic war between worlds, the only way to defeat the Strogg is to become one of them. Battle through early missions as a deadly marine, then after your capture as a marine-turned-Strogg with enhanced abilities and the power to turn the tide of the war.

QUAKE 4 has not yet been rated by the ESRB. For more information on Raven Software, please visit www.ravensoft.com.

the shots (for the PC version) of Quake IV in Computer Gaming world were alot more interesting than this

this really does look like it was pulled directly from a Doom 3 expansion pack

the shots in CGW seemed to atleast have that Quake World feel to them

Well, to be fair the Doom 3 technology has been finalized quite some time ago (I'd say last summer?) and has already been used in a game released last year. You won't get a game using UE3 correctly until 2006 with Gears of Wars. That's a 18 months time difference, and it's a LOT in the gaming world.
Ho, and what is it with these moronic junior members making "witty" comments?

I never understood the stupidity of comparing Doom 3 to UE3. It started when the first UE3 shots appeared on the web (LONG time ago, even before Doom 3 launched) and people (not here!) were already saying "this blows Doom 3 out of the water! No sale for Doom 3!".

Well no shit sherlocks, Doom 3 comes in a few months while the first UE3 games will come in 2006 (2 years later!).

People are stupid.

And if Doom 3 can run on Xbox1 Quake 4 should too, don't blame people for pointing the obvious, Blimblim.

I didn't really plan on buying Doom 3 until I saw how incredible it was on screen and in motion on the OXM demo, so likely same here.

Still, Quake IV so far really does look too close to Doom 3 for me to be enthusiastic about as of yet, which isn't a knock against the 360 itself.

Fixed

And in my opinion i''ve always thought Sweeney was better, but much less appreciated. UE3 will raise him to his deserved hights. I absolutely hate the D3 engine.

I blame them for "The Xbox 360 is off to a great start" and "Seems to be a recurring theme.". That's trolling. Of course stating it looks like a Xbox game, considering it uses technology already used (and quite well) in Xbox 1 games is perfectly ok. Quake 4 looks bad, I can't state it enough.

Bad in what way? It looks very similar to Doom 3, that's for sure, but have you play Doom 3 on a fast PC output onto an HDTV at 720p? The visuals are absolutely incredible and look a whole lot better than the XBOX version of Doom 3.

Quake1 and Quake3 are among my fav fps games ever. Hopefully Raven can pull through. Raven made RTCW right? I loved that game.

Well, it looks like Doom 3. Doom 3 looked nice one year ago, now some of the technology is starting to look a bit dated. Especially the specular highlighting that makes that plastic look, and the shadows that are way too hard (for a lack of a better word in my limited english).
It's awesome for an old system like Xbox, but I want more out of my shiny new Xbox 360.

How can ppl say this look's like crap?
Yeah, this is NOT next-gen, its on par with what were getting now on pc's, but it doesnt look like shit. Unless you're talking about the art. Blah.
