If a third is coming to PS2 I call that milking, just because of the decreased quality. They should take their time and give the series a gorgeous comeback in the next generation, something in the vein of Suikoden II.

Suikoden 3 and 4 had great production values. 4's story and characters were weaker than 3, but I think that was more due to having the character designer write and produce in the wake of Murayama's departure. I'm still loving 4 and it still has hints at the progression of the
Dharma/Chaos battle and the war against Harmonia
that the series is building to.
If Konami takes their time and writes a great story with great characters (like 1-3) and dramatic scenes inspired from literature (like 1+2 mainly) I will be thrilled. That and they need to retore the battle system while keeping it speedy, as 4 characters make it harder to use all the characters, find unites, or find bathhouse scenes, and the lack of a second row makes archers and knife throwers useless and mess up magic users. 4 also removed a great many of the runes from the other games. I want Blue/Pale Gate Rune back.
Still, due to the expanding world and story of the series, I would happily buy a spinoff based on any character or country.
Of course this is coming from someone with the Flame Champion as an avatar.

Well, despite what others might say. I for one very much agree with you, on all parts. Been a fan of the Suikoden series ever since I played the first one and I too am waiting for the next, inevitable, part in the series.
So bring it on Suikoden, but try and bring back the real feel of the old series!
