Today, the company revealed the game's new "Push" mode for multiplayer gaming. The goal of Push Mode is to clear two lines at a time to move the screen down and push opponents into the red zone. If players let their own blocks build up too high, it's game over for them. Push Mode will be supported in all of the Nintendo DS system's wireless multiplayer options, including the Download Play single cartridge option as well as the online mode using the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection.

Ahh... I was curious as to how they were going to keep 10-player mode from being over in like 15 seconds. This explains it, I guess... I wonder if clearing 2+ lines only moves everyone else's screen up 1 line?

Game Experiance May Change During Online Play
does that mean there will be cussing, implying that people can voicechat while playing Tetris?
That's not something I ever expected the DS to be able to do.

No, it means you will get your ass owned by someone better than the crappy CPU players.

Yuuup.

Not ONLY is it online portable Tetris, 10-player local multiplayer with one card, Nintendo-themed... they just did EVERYTHING right. In addition to all that it isn't a "lazy" release... full of all kinds of game modes and goodies that go above and beyond.

No, it's probably not about the emblems, but about the fact that the experience really is different when you play online. No dragging of items, lag, only four players at a time and just the general difference of playing against humans are some examples.

I'll definitely get it, but I don't know how popular it will be. I mean, granted it's still Tetris, but I see this as being really something special if Nintendo advertises this properly.

Make it a pack-in eventually (it's practically a given at this point), like Nintendogs and Mario Kart, and they'll do gangbu$ter$ on both the game and hardware. Talk about mainstream appeal across the board...

A pack-in eh? Hmm, that could actually be a good idea.

Never underestimate Tetris on a handheld. Especially one as feature rich as this and infused with Nintendo nostalgia.

They should give you a bunch of pre-made NES emblems, and let you make custom emblems (like you see where each player has a character icon).

I think they should do a graphite DS + Metroid Prime: Hunters bundle first. :D

Speaking of which, I just realized they're both coming out on the same day. Took that game long enough. :lol February/March are really puttin' the hurt on my wallet...

They are. As a result I will probably pass on Hunters just b/c I'm sure Tetris will take up my limited DS time entirely. I'll definitely get annihilated online though since I've played hundreds of hours of Puyo Pop, Bust a Move, and Puzzle Fighter in my life, but literally ~10 hours of Tetris. Ah well, all the offline modes look great too.

I think it's pretty clear that in various games it's being used along with the ESRB rating, and not to restate the obvious that playing online is different than playing offline. Even if there's not chat or emblems of any type you could still end up with a COCKFACE on your friends list or something.

It is "about the emblems", though. The comment is linked to the ESRB rating, and the ESRB doesn't particularly care that you can't drag banana's online. They do care that kids might see a penis in what is otherwise a game rated E for Everyone. Hence the disclaimer.

EDIT: beaten to the punch. :)

Ah, unintentional comedy.

That is an obligatory phrase by ESRB when you have an online enabled game...

Nothing have to be conclude like dl with that ;)
