Alfred Molina's skin is simply amazing in the demo. It's like the real thing.
I didn't remeber it to be so realistic in the E3 demo.
Unreal Engine is the same E3 demo with a few wireframe scenes.

Because they have his sub-surfacew scattering data from the Spidey 2 movie, in a very high quality as you can imagine.Looks cool and all... but why Alfred Molina?

gofreak said:BTW, for those who didn't know, this is as much a demo of Cell as RSX. Cell is calculating the quite complex subsurface light scattering (under the skin) in realtime and passing that data to pixel shaders in RSX.
dorio said:Have they confirmed that this is using the RSX? I thought the original was done before the RSX was even taped out.
Sholmes said:I hope Silent Hill 5 uses this skin mapping, that way people can pull those shots up in 2009.

So the ps3 doesn't need that RSX<=>Cell connection to pull this off.gofreak said:Sorry, Cell + "whatever GPU is in the box now". So Cell + 6800 Ultra SLI or G70.

dark10x said:To be honest, I would not be suprised to see Team Silent attempting to reach for detail levels on par with what we see here. Even if they could get within 50% of this demo, that would look fantastic.

Their visual style moved away from that with 3 and 4.

The way blemishes and scars (acne scars?) etc. become noticeable under different lighting..wow.

I think it's probably my favourite realtime tech demo ever. The skin is simply unbelievable

No...no it doesn't. That was a skinning demo. The textures were low-res, the model considerably less detailed, and the lighting and accuracy of the skin not even close. But yes, it was a head demo too.sangreal said:Reminds me of the Radeon 8500 Rachel Demo

gofreak said:G-man's not as goodHis skin lacks the translucency of Doc Oc's, among other things.
