Next-Gen PS5 & XSX |OT| Console tEch threaD

Here's a couple of patents around XSXs SSD.

Microsoft has patents in each section of its console, it's great to see.

I suspect Sony's main design constraints with PS4 Pro was to make it easiest for developers to target PS4 and Pro enhanced, and to keep the unit as small and light as possible to keep shipping/storage costs and carbon footprint increase to a minimum. Constraints that meant a compromised Pro design. I doubt it represents what a PS5 in Nov 2016 would have been and the TF metric it would have had.

By contrast, Microsoft completely abandoned the Xbox One esram / ddr3 design for the One X. From a technical perspective the One X looks like a boosted design version of the Ps4 Pro arriving a year late. And the change of design presumably allowed Microsoft to benefit from PS4 software development on the One X releases. The One X is a great piece of iterative hardware that stretched Microsoft's engineering and costing, but even with a clean slate and a year late, it end up 16% heavier, making it less green to ship millions of units on oil using vehicles. It is fair to say it represents what a Series X would have been in Nov 2017.

Welp there it is, we have reached the point of #GreenEnergy as a power/design metric.

No advertisements for both consoles at the Super Bowl however there have been GTA Vice City references :goog_rolleyes:
Super Bowl ads are expensive.
Sony has a broader reach than just the USA (which is likely going to be majority viewers from USA that is going to have eyes glued to the Super Bowl)
A standalone event would be much cheaper and reach a wider audience than the above.
I would think the same holds true for Microsoft on the above.

I wish i couldn't access Gaf for a month. It would stop me coming here every few minutes and refreshing to see if there is anything new.
I'm going off the deep end.
Can someone squeeze a dev for any info? Do his/her dishes? Babysit their kids? Anything for a morsel of info? LOL

Even Sony is not able to make a promo video with that quality. If this DS5 was available for $ 300, I would buy it based on that video. Impressive.

I c. Sony is leaving the marketing to everyone else 🤣. Fk if i was Sony i would show that video when they announce the Ds5 🤣

LMFAO, they forgot to trademark it until just now?

I should trademark PS6 just so Sony has to buy me out next generation.
Are you on par with the news? Sony has trademarked PS5 since 2006, also has PS6/PS7/PS8/PS9/PS10. This is some pretty normal stuff to be honest they just need to branch it out worldwide through various country's/regions.

Oh god...PLEASE tell me that isn't true. I'll worry about green more when China and India stop DUMPING pollution into the environment. Till then, a lot has been done and progress gets made every year...at least in most of the rest of the world!

Alright, this thread is *finally* calling for a bald hedgehog.

Hey look, it's Sonic's dad! We found him!!

Just another prediction: February 4th, wired article with little more info with announcement of more to come in the PlayStation meeting later in February.

P.S.: I am not an insider.

Oh man, this silence from Sony really is bringing me down, I hope they reveal the PlayStation 5 in February because the GDC 2020 is gonna happen on 16th of March, so at that time, everything about the specs of these consoles will be 100% leaked.

And I'm afraid what Kleegamefan said might be wrong as well, so I hope Sony does what Klee reported in the past or he will turn out to be a wrong source.

And let's not forget he said this...

I'm not 100% sure, but I think certain trademarks can't be filed too early as some need to attach to a physical product, like within 90 days or something.
