Cool, so we'll just see how capable the XSX is on 3rd party games and for which games they have the marketing rights
 
So MS has two events. One on May 7th focused on 3rd party. Sony follow up with one main even sometime in June. MS then counters with their main event showing 1st party, price,maybe Lockhart etc ? I do like MS's strategy here. Would allow MS to wait on introducing Lockhart and the pricing of both SKU's until after Sony this time around.

if they wait a few more weeks, we are looking at a june reveal.

they are literally 4 months behind what they did for the ps4. and their messaging has been awful and non existent.

had they announced a june reveal back in january at CES, it wouldve been easier to digest. instead, they dragged their heels and have had nothing to show for the first five months of the year they are supposedly releasing their new console.
 
So Sony said no E3 this year
E3 got cancelled
and Sony end up talking when E3 was supposed to happen, they really are the best at trolling in gaming industry....

The one in May (the one they just announced) is focusing on third party games. Assassins creed is going to be there. Later on—presumably in June—they will have an event on first party games. This is where they will most likely reveal release date and pricing for the console. I'm unsure when Lockhart will come into play
 
Wow so MS's conference is only current gen third party games?

I have no idea how both of these companies are so unprepared for this gen. they had what 4 years to prepare? 3 for MS after launching the x1x.

Imagine doing a next gen reveal by showing current gen games like Elden Ring, Ass Creed and Re8. It makes no sense to me.

Eh?, they are showing XSX multiplatform games. Of course most of them will be cross gen. Multiplatform games will be cross gen for the next couple of years at least.

Lot of inference on your part based off of very little information. You're going to see current-gen games at Sony's event, too, so might as well get used to seeing them.

Cross-gen 3rd-party will be a thing for the next year at least, probably two years as these companies need to get back to stable levels and projected revenue targets in the wake of the economic mess this pandemic's caused.

It's.. not a conference.

It's an Inside Xbox episode. A marketing video; really no different than said 3rd parties releasing trailers.

People really need to lower expectations; pretty obvious the real XSX event is "Summer." (so at least late June)

MS is going to have two events. First is only 3rd party. Second will be the main event(1st party,Lockhart,pricing.studio acquisitions? etc)

Not all 3rd party games will be cross gen. For example,Starfield is probably being developed from the ground up for next gen

And having a 50% faster cpu,SSD, Ray Tracing,etc will allow cross gen games on next gen systems to look/run significantly better

Starfield is next gen only, but i highly doubt that will be shown next week.
 
In a world where the most successful device company in the world waits until a couple weeks before shipping to reveal their product, typically the day before pre-orders are available...

It's crazy that gamers still think showing shit years or many months in advanced is super important. I'm not trying to equate gaming to iPhones, but the most important time for HYPE for any product is when it's actually available for sale, or at least pre-order. Not when enthusiasts who just want to see stuff are crying that these companies are screwing up their marketing.

50% faster cpu ? Isn't more like 450% faster cpu compared to last gen ?

Sony did the Apple way with PS4 Pro but clearly have reverted back to the drip feed then blowout way of previous gens. Honestly it is a no win situation for everyone and of course when a rival seems to be more forthcoming we tend to complain.

At least next week we finally see next-gen games, albeit TP only (I'm sure Xbox are really curious to see what Sony has too!).

Well I would hardly compare their drip to previous gens. Typically a year+ in advance we have bullshots and CGI passed off as gameplay or "tech demos." Not to mention promises of launch games that don't even come close to coming out at launch.

I have no clue why any gamer would want to move back towards that direction.

The world doesnt run on your time, until next gen is months away these companies dont have obligation to show fuck all. They can convince consumers to buy their console in 10 minutes.

there is nothing hyperbolic in saying they are unprepared because they are late by 4 months or because their first big next gen showpiece is of current gen games. whats hyperbolic is wanting to commit suicide because of FF7 remake's plot twists like yoshichan on era Or gaffers creating one thread after another wondering if ellie doesnt look like a perfect 10 model because naughty dog must have a trans agenda. im surprised out of all the insanity that goes on both boards, you take issue with me wanting next gen to be revealed like it was last gen.

and technically they are under no obligation to show anything. not right now, not a day before launch, or a day after. they can stealth launch without sending review copies. its a private business. they dont owe us anything.

like i said before, messaging matters. Had they told us when to expect a reveal, or rather not to expect a reveal until june, we wouldnt have wasted our time on these boards for months.

i would love to see some next gen only games at that event, but i doubt it. i think we will see cybperunk, watchdogs, cod, ac, elden ring and re8 and they will keep the next Battlefield, Starfield and other next gen only games for their summer conference.

all these current gen games are going to look dated as fuck next to next gen only games and third parties know this.

I wasn't comparing what they dripped just that they started talking a lot earlier than anyone was expecting. April 2019 was very early for a late 2020 release especially as the plan seems to have been to actually do a reveal/show games closer to release than last gen.

I agree about games being announced too early and then delays on top. Not sure what the solution to that is if they haven't fixed it yet. It has been a problem since PS3.

Gotcha; yeah I like Sony's approach this gen. The Wired articles were cool, and honestly I don't get the point of having a blowout and then waiting 10 months to be able to buy the damn thing.

Same with MS I guess, although I'm more excited for PS5 so that's where my attention has gone.

It's been my opinion we'll probably see the biggest info dumps right before pre-orders are available, which might not be until July or so.

there were several next gen games shown at both the PS4 and Xbox One E3 conferences at E3 2013. Witcher 3 and FFXV come to mind.

Yeah that was a problem since a couple of years ago.

Even when Xbox show many games and has a good show in the end most of us we usually
the best part of Xbox conference was the presentation <insert third party title> not one of of its
first party, just look the horrible presentation for Gears 5, that game doesn't deserve that poor presentation.

Bullshit. The PS5 was announced last year, and the tech video was in March, while PS4s one was in February. The PS4 design was presented in June 2013. The roadmap has been pretty similar.

It will be mostly third parties, we've been through these showings before, titled like this and it ends up being 95% third party games that are also coming out on Sony machine.

We saw the jump in graphics in that IP until Unity.

It's easy enough to believe. Horizon is going to be the first game not held back by current gen restraints. It's going to take advantage of the PS5s throughput. And it's Guerrilla! I don't expect anything from MS or a 3rd party to touch it! The first Horizon dropped jaws for an open world game, it's game over when we see HZD2!
