The Jags look terrible if you (like most people, apparently) just look and see that they're 1-5. But if you're following more closely, they're just not that bad. Not playoff calibre, but way better than that record suggests.

I agree a little bit but not really. There have been plenty of close games and we could definitely have a better record than now if we were lucky but there are fundamental reasons why we are losing those games and we deserve to lose all of them. We have to finish drives which has been plaguing us for a couple years now and it's cost us countless games and I don't think we deserve to win by kicking 50 FGs each game and I'm kind of glad we're not only so far as it's not seen as we're ok when we're not. We have to change things in some manner to actually score. It's obviously not all on our rookie quarterback since this has been going on long before he started but there's obviously something that is broken that we can't do more than FGs. Thankfully Scobee continues to be extrememly consistent and bail us out plenty of times for that but it's ridiculous the amount of times we have to settle for FGs, it's just inexcusable. This past game we won, we kicked a FG, kicked a FG, kicked a FG... and guess how we topped it off to make sure they had to score a touchdown? We kicked a FG! It's just absolutely ridiculous at this point.

Edit: Maybe we're better than our record suggest right now but not by much IMO.

I missed out on $970 last week because the Packers weren't elite enough to win by 10 points. Bullshit. Had Falcons, Texans, Steelers, and all the Packers had to do was win by 10...something they've been doing all year SMH.

I feel bad for dude in Week 7 thread. Lost $1,000+ on that Ravens game?! I'd be drinking right now.
Hermano!

Thems the breaks normally... I was too caught up in a bunch of stuff this weekend to even bother with laying anything down, but apparently the Ravens were the only team not to comply and I know of 4 people it ruined some parlays for. ELITE.

We'll see how it goes this weekend.

Somewhere on the internet there has to be a Wire parody with Ray Lewis as Marlo and Flacco as Prop Joe.

"Joe, you'd be up into mischief in no time. Truth is, you wouldn't be able to change up any more than me"

Though his WRs are Rams bad. Even if he were average, a QB will look shitty with no weapons. Sanchez looks like crap with and as Santonio

This is a game of matchups and the Jags matched up well to the Ravens. This what impressed me about them.

1. The Jags the audacity to run against the Ravens and did it with consistency. I LOVED THAT. Anyone serious about football has to find that remarkable. Too many teams let their nads slide up into their bodies when facing the Ravens. They stop running, and let them ravens unleash their pass rush and force mistakes. The Jags did they opposite. They beat on them and wore them down. And much to the Ravens credit their defense didn't tire like most would and they have incredible depth.

2. On defense, the Jags did something that NOBODY DOES. AND IT'S INFURIATING. They covered Ray Rice. Rice is the Ravens offense. U can only slow him down in the run game BUT U can take him out of the pass game. Flacco is a bum, we all know this but he's always getting bailed out by Rice. Every game, the same thing happens. Defense blitzes on 3rd&long, Rice chips the blitzer, goes to the flats and catches a dump off for the 1st down. The Jags were able to generate pressure with their front four (that goes back to them matching up well) and were able to cover him. That's really all the Raven have. Torrey is a deep threat but Flacco can't hit him consistently. Plus the Jags DB's played amazing.

Living in Baltimore as a Redskin fan is hard. So yesterday was very satisfying. lol

Kind of. But the other teams didn't deserve to win all of them either. You have that sort of game, and normally you'll win some and you'll lose some. The Jags have had years in the past where they've won an unreasonable number of those games, and this year they're losing an unreasonable number of them.

No playmaking receiver along with a QB who can take advantage of them. Gabbert will be that QB, but I'm not convinced that WR is on the roster yet.

I don't think it's unreasonable to suggest that if the dice had fallen slightly differently, the Jags could be 3-4 or 4-3.

The Ravens have Bolden, no way are their WRs Rams bad. Flacco is just horrible. He has barely progressed at all since he was a rookie. He still moves around to much in the pocket, he gets happy feet if a rusher comes anywhere near him, and his accuracy is shit. With the Ravens D and running game they would be the favorites in the AFC with an even average QB.

I think you're giving a little too much credit... They had the "audacity" because that's all we do is run. No matter how much yardage, no matter the situation we give it off to mojo. There were games we had leads and lost it because we had the "audacity" to run even though it wasn't working and we needed to start moving the ball. Of course it looks great when it works but we do it regardless of strategy. :/

I think we're both on the same page then. Don't get me wrong I was trying to say we could have definitely been 4-3 if only we got that one touchdown or stopped that one big play. I'm not saying the other team deserved to win in the games they beat the Jags but I definitely don't feel sorry for the Jags in the sense that they should have won it instead. A lot of them were just sloppy, miserable attempts at offense by both teams and it just felt like neither team deserved to win but the other team came up big in the last 5-10 minutes of the game and beat us. We seem to give up a lot of close games/leads we have had in the 4th quarter due to our offense absolutely stalling at times and producing nothing in the second half and compounded with all the FGs we kick we keep teams in the game where one TD either makes it a close game with us up by a point or two or even gives them the league.

I also agree we have no receivers. I have no problems right now with Gabbert and he has potential but our guys can't catch for shit. We've had that problems for a couple years and have been attempting to fix it but it literally just hasn't been working out yet. Lewis had that aggravating drop too that should have been a TD and he's our "go to guy" pretty much except for maybe Thomas.

I will certainly not argue the case of Flacco. He's crap. But Boldin isn't good. He's slow and is a complementary possession receiver.

I don't get this Ravens team. Roughed up by TEN and JAX but beat up on HOU and PITT.

I understand with Gabbert back there, that U may have been forced into it. But I've seen teams in similar circumstances abandon the run. So for whatever the reason way, I enjoyed seeing some smash mouth football. I enjoyed seeing the bully get hit in the mouth for a change. Hell, after the fumbles, most teams would have moved away from the run. They stuck with it. Those 1-2 yard carries turned into 3-5 carries. It limited their ability to create turnovers, it limited their TOS. It won u guys the game.

He is a clearly a genius.

He would be getting enough action just being a college football God. But whole chastity thing makes him so much more desirable to all of those girls (and their mothers). Tebow is like "the prize" in the Highlander for evangelicals.

There can be only one...

And the ultimate troll would be if he was gay.

I'm not disagreeing with that. Mojo is an absolute beast and we would be 50x worse than we are now if he wasn't on your team no doubt. I'm just saying there's been too many times I've watched them fail because they won't do anything else due to our passing problems and won't switch to the pass until we literally lost the lead and usually by then it's too late but luckily the run game worked for us that game. Also, Mojo is the lifeblood of that team. Unless he has multiple fumbles I can't see the team ever giving up the run after one fumble unless they coach is high out of his mind or something. It's a run team and offense operates through Mojo, so much to the point it becomes a fault at times.

I wish there was some way to check what the longest a teams has ever gone to start a game with out a first down is. 5 min left in the 3rd quarter has got to be close to the all time record.

RayRay was talking pre-game that they know this is the type of trap game. Mentioned how hard they practiced all week and weren't going to lie down.

Welp. He needs to let Flacco in on this next time.

Flacco is what he is at this point. If you stop Ray Rice, you stop the Ravens offense. It's that simple.

If teams were able to dedicate themselves to the run like the Jags did, they'll potentially cut down on turnover and further negate the Ravens offense. The Ravens are AWESOME at forcing fumbles, my goodness gracious, u truly aren't safe with the ball on the ground. lol

Let not kid ourselves the way Joe played last night reminded me of the bad years where our D didnt give up touchdowns yet Kyle Boller threw Picks left and right in the red zone.

I was watching the game last night at a friends house and noticed how well the Jags played..I thought to myself why they can't always play like that lol. Also noticed how uneasy Flacco looked..

I'm also wondering how long that window is open for that Raven's D. Ngata has several years left but Ed Reed and Ray Lewis can't play forever.

I don't think any Ravens fans ever really believed in Flacco. He can manage a game but he can't win it when things are not going their way.

Loved the stat where Flacco had more receptions in the first half than the Ravens had first downs. :lol

Also nice to see the Ravens defense going after the offense.

I've been thinking of nicknames for Cam, and the best I've come up with so far is "The Force." A Newton is the unit for derived force, and of course it fits Cam's last name so I thought it was pretty clever. Anyone care to 1-up me?

Isn't "cam" already a nickname?

As a physics major, I like yours, not enough mainstream appeal. People will think of Star Wars.

I guess you can consider Cam a nickname, it's a lame one though because it's just a shortened version of his first name.

DAVIE, Fla. (AP)—Miami Dolphins coach Tony Sparano could sense a seemingly insurmountable lead slipping away, and after calling a timeout, he implored two officials to review a touchdown just scored by the Denver Broncos.

“If I don’t call a timeout, I’m (sunk) and now I’m getting fired, OK?” he screamed while pointing toward the team owner’s skybox.

The desperation in Sparano’s demeanor was understandable, but his plea for sympathy—captured by a CBS Miami camera—went unheeded. The touchdown was upheld on review, accelerating the Broncos’ astounding comeback for an 18-15 overtime victory Sunday.

Oh lol, put this poor guy out of his misery.

I really want to come to Philly to see a game soon. My friend and I were planning to get tickets this year, but had to bail because his health isn't the best right now. Maybe next year though. Enjoy the game. E A G L E S EAGLES!

What the hell happened to quarterbacking in this league? Pure garbage. The number of quarterbacks who can read and react to a defense during the course of a play has dwindled to a tiny handful. I think a lot of it has to do with spread(type) offenses which generally call for a pre-snap read (that guys like Ryan, Flacco, Schaub, Stafford, etc. are unable to adjust from) and the change to penalties which tend to reward jump balls with flags. Andre/Calvin covered? Fuck it, throw to him anyway.

You look at guys like Rodgers, Brady, Roethlisberger or hell even Cutler and they are able to go through route progressions in the course of the play (something that used to be a fucking pre-requisite for the position) and throw to that third receiver running a crossing pattern after the curl and slant are covered. Flacco doing the same? Ha! Fucking NFL (with the assistance of the NCAA) has killed the craft of quarterbacking. Disgusting watching some of these guys pretend like they have a clue.

I have actually been to more Eagles games than Steelers games.

If the game is any good the atmosphere should be awesome.

The good thing (the only good thing?) about Philly crowds is how funny they can be when things are not going well. If Andy Reid coaches a stinker the crowd can come up with some hilarious (and hurtful) things to say.

Have fun! Think of us when the Eagles are on the goal line and Reids calls the same 3 or 4 plays he always does (which never work) or when Castillo is spacing the lineman so far apart that even we could run for 4 yards a carry or especially when Romo does something incredibly stupid.
