Nickelodeon offered Jennette McCurdy $300k in hush money

I've heard nothing but terrible things about Dan Schneider, and McCurdy only seems to back these claims up. Working at Nickelodeon or Disney during the 90s/00s seemed to be a bad, bad time.
 
McCurdy claims that Nickelodeon unfairly prevented her from pursuing opportunities outside the show, while Grande was allowed to do other work.

"What finally undid me was when Ariana came whistle-toning in with excitement because she had spent the previous evening playing charades at Tom Hanks's house," McCurdy writes. "That was the moment I broke."

Because unlike Arianna, they felt like she wasn't going to keep her mouth shut. Not hating on Arianna but good for McCurdy.

It's hard to read the above quote and not have suspensions of grooming Arianna.

Hollywood be rife with this since its inception. It amazes me that there is no federal investigation and sting operations. I wonder why that is?
 
Demi Lovato also did one of these Nick shows (in addition to Disney). I wonder how much of this stuff she was exposed to.
 
I was waiting for the 4chan nickname image, I like "Hold her tighter, she's a fighter" the best. But yeah, this stuff has been like an open secret for decades now, dude got away with soo much because he was best mates with the top dog at Nick.
 
Always a great sign when people are offered money to never talk about what happened to them as a child. So sick of abusers and their enablers getting away without punishment.

But this stuff is obvious. When you look at people like Amanda Bynes, like Demi Lovato, and to a lesser extent people like McCurdy herself and Selena Gomez... You know Nickelodeon is fucking rotten. Child stars don't grow up to be THAT fucked up unless the adults involved are just being massive douchebags, and even potentially abusive.

Same thing with the "Mickey Mouse Club" graduates -- Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, and others went through periods (in Britney's case, arguably STILL going through an extended period) of just super wild periods involving mental breakdowns, drugs, or simply over-sexualized behavior that goes beyond the normal. So I've can only speculate that some fucked up shit may have been going on there.

Many parts of the entertainment industry are just fucking rotten to the core.

I am still absolutely SHOCKED that none of these child stars ever had this guy wacked. Grande alone probably has 10 guys on her security payroll that would do it. Or a parent finally get wind of it and beat him to death. How distanced a parent do you have to be to not know this kind of crap is going on?

Well, he was in a position of trust/responsibility during the formative years of their life. Most child victims blame themselves not the abuser. In order to kill someone, you need to feel they deserve it. Most want to kill themselves not the abuser......

And who's to say the parents didn't know or even encourage it? Many parents of child stars want them to become more famous and make more money. A lot of people had to be ok with this for it to happen on the scale that it did.

A lot of these parents exploit their own children for a life of luxury.
 
I wonder if the problem was a lot worse when people didn't have smart phones. Now they've got a GPS, camera, audio recorder, and multiple methods of communication on a small device that fits in their pocket.

Sure, but it just takes ONE DAD to put that fuck into the ground. I wonder if the parents (or lack thereof) weren't more a factor of who gets cast than the kid. Definitely explain A. how so many of these kids got weird screwy parents and B. how this crap can happen. A parent that shows up and is present every minute on set and doesn't let their 12 year old have sexy time with the producer....fire that kid!

It's already being done in my opinion. The "movie star" is dead/dying. Kids idolize content creators these days, and people know you don't have to sell your soul to get famous or make money.

The 99% of actors going to Hollywood and failing is just becoming the 99% of content creators that try and fail. At least one of them doesn't typically result in trauma. EDIT: I'm not talking about OnlyFans, camming, etc lol

But I never watched the show obviously so I didn't know which was more talented .

If you believe that to be true, you're lying to yourself: more republican governors, more republican senators, most watched tv news channel, more federal judges, more supreme judges, and of course when it comes to churches the vast majority lean red. Sure, hollywood leans left and so do entertainment channels, and so do most universities (but there are right leaning colleges as well so you've got options).

Just because your side cries wolf does not mean its tears are true.
