Now this is a game that I want to play. Looks stunning, engaging, super fun. Everything a video-game should be.

Looks ok. I struggle with shooters with this scrolling perspective, like Space Harrier for example.

Youtube compression is doing this so dirty. But there are so okay screens up on the steam page, and the unfiltered sprites being scaled all over the screen are pretty ratty looking. This game would be a good candidate for some filter options. Crt filters do well enough for me as far as mitigating this.

If I did, I would have been very young, so basically no. I know of the game, but can't if it was from playing it back then or learning of it elsewhere.

Edit: Nope. No update on new aleste and the new game from the Ikaruga lead dev, ubusuna, is still MIA.

However the music in the video is a huge downgroade compared Zuntata's OST of the original arcade game.

EDIT: Also the first "racing" game sequence in the video I'm pretty sure is a reference to Vertexer.

They released Aleste Senjin in the arcade, and there is Aleste Branch they have been working on for a while.

It's out on Steam as John Bilbo posted. Japan 23rd is 22nd elsewhere I guess.

Now that's going all in, haha. There's no throttle control afaik, but hey the Space Harrier arcade cabinet also had a flight stick by default (as did Night Striker, but maybe most people know that from the home ports - best on Saturn of course).
