Or is it just one of Phil's balls in my throat?

Was a nice game but I don't think I'd play a remaster if it can't redo some core things like the interface and AI more than slapping on some new textures or whatever.

I've never even heard of this game ...

Man all I want is someone to start remastering the PC Engine and putting it on consoles..there's so many amazing shmups on that system that I can't play!

Reminder that this game is supposed to be canon to the movie's story, according to Carpenter (though I can't find the exact interview where he said this, it is mentioned that the game is canon everywhere on reddit and the games wiki)

Fuckin A. I saw The Thing for the first time two years ago at a drive-in theater. Fantastic film.

Just bought it on 4K Blu ray a few weeks back.

My fave film as well. Still got my og Xbox copy of the game too, but I'd gladly buy a remaster if its good enough.

This is a great idea but it does need some reworking, I beat it neither times I tried in 2002 and 2014 because of some jank despite there being some really cool aspects.

What the world needs most is a new The Thing game ala Alien Isolation.

Oh so they moving up the ladder, this could be interesting 🤔

This will have to be a full remake for me to have any interest. Hopefully that's what it is vs a remaster.
This is my view, I'm not sure I'd want to spend the time on it as both times I did in the past the jank was just a little too much to see it through to the end.

However anything from the year 2002 getting a second chance in the spotlight out there for people is a good thing.

I tried this on PC a million years ago.
It needed QOL improvements even back then.

A straight remaster will not be good enough. They better overhaul it beyond anything else they've done before.

It's not just the jank, but that whole "trust" system was all sorts of fucked so hopefully they iron all that out. Also the bosses were absolute shit.

Day zero. Still got my OG Xbox copy

I had this back in the day but it never left much of an impression. Huge fan of the movie too. I'm curious. Very little memory of this game.

I really have no objection to these games coming over from these gaming eras. AA gaming at it's finest. I hope this is a profitable venture for Nightdive.

Hell yeah!

This is great news, hopefully it leans more towards remake than remaster.

It's about the only other IP as scary as Aliens.

Still, Nightdive should do something else besides remasters and remakes.

They have the power.

These guys just keep delivering!
I own TWO copies of this on Xbox, just because I saw it in the wild and couldn't resist.
Curious to see if they get old man Carpenter involved again...and lest we forget there was a cancelled sequel and lots of unused assets and cut content from the first game. Nightdive are used to me probing them for questions, so please believe I will be going hard in the paint on that front.

Yes please, the game felt very unique and I'd love to replay it on modern systems. A remake is what it really needs though, a simple remaster may not be enough.

I always meant to try this considering the film is probably my favourite ever. Will definitely have a look if they fix some of this QOL stuff people are mentioning.

Always wanted to play this but the reviews put me off from it at the time because I was just a teen with limited money.

Looking forward to finally checking it out.

I like this game back then, but the UI, control, and graphic should be remade isntead remaster i think. The gameplay is fine but its archaic for this age

You see, this is a game that would benefit hugely from a full remake with modern tech......if you've never played this and love the film, don't get too excited for a simple remaster.

I loved this game, happy to see it getting revived man, it doesn't deserve the fate of so many games that just fall into obscurity. Lot of love went into this one, probably one of the best licensed games out there in terms of authenticity to the atmosphere of the film. Cool ending too, an unexpected bit at the end. I'll get this for sure, and so should all of you.

This is genuinely the first choice for a remaster that feels earned and deserved. Hope they can pull it off, because the best horror movie of all time deserves a great video game.

Day 1 and completely unexpected. I loved this game so much, it had some really awesome and unique mechanics. I never ever thought we'd see a remaster of it.

the best horror movie of all time deserves a great video game.

I remember watching it at university with some peeps, and a girl walked in, asking what we were watching.
We told her it was a horror film called The Thing. She looked uncomfortable, and said she didn't like horror films.
I told her it hadn't been too bad so far.
Literally, the very next moment the defibrillator sequence happened, and the girl ran from the room so fast! :)
