Nightmare Before Christmas game sucks :(

Seriously, wtf. How did Capcom screw up a an action game based around The Nightmare Before Christmas and make it completely boring? The story sucks, the music sucks (how??!?!? Danny Elfman's compositions are incredible, yet they decided to add NEW lyrics and replace some of the voice actors), and the combat is ridiculously simple to the point that you're yawning by the third chapter.

Devil May Jack Skellington this is not. I only hope the GBA game makes up for this. It's cool to play through a sequel to a film that will never receive one (at least, at this point, I hope not), but man, outside of the incredible, incredible animation and the really slick visuals, this game is a train wreck.

So sad. :(

:lol :lol I played this game for about 5 minutes at E3. Yeah the game sucked.

I played this game for about 9 minutes. I wanted to break the disc in 4 exact pieces. Everything about this game sucks, especially the use of the music.

It's just very, very repetitive. There's a few combo attacks, but they're useless since they do just as much damage as mashinging away at the buttons. The should've just made him move around like he does in the part where he's in Boogie's lair in the movie. Instead, he uses some goo to attack (which is a stupid idea unto itself). A rapier seems more fitting for old Jack. The best thing about this game is his walk animation, I don't know why. They should've just based it off of the movie's story.

But.....but...Play gave it an 8.5 :(

I learned along time ago never trust Play's scores. I still get it, but it's only for their interviews, articles, pretty pictures, design and anime section.

its based off a movie that was largely targetted towards kids, why wouldnt they target the same audience with the game. Id expect it to be unchallenging and shallow

Shouldn't it be Oogie May Cry rather than Devil May Jack Skellington? No, really, this is important.

And too bad the game turned out mediocre. On paper it looked like it couldn't miss.

That sucks. I was really hoping this game would be good. I'm a huge fan on the movie.

I'll still rent it and try it out though. Can't resist.

Stop associating Devil May Cry with this game for god sakes.

Just cus it's a 3D action game by Capcom doesn't make it a "DMC killer"

Given, the very fact that every action game is compared to DMC is only a testament to it's superiority. :D

C- Warrior you've GOT to play the GBA game.

Play Score: 8.5

Yep, it's an AoS clone. Thread here.

Sweet, I'll look into it.

Although I should go on record saying my love for 3D action titles (DMC1,DMC3,NG,Shinobi) doesn't fully translate into 2D. When it comes to 2D games I'm just a casual fan, I'll look into it though.

There have been many instances where the 3D version of a game sucks, yet the 2D build is awesome. Most recent case and point: Astro Boy.

I'd say two games using the same engine is a pretty damn big tie. Less so now with stuff like the Unreal Engine, but it's not every day that you see the DMC engine in use.
