I was going to go to this; it's just a short drive away. But parking at Universal City is a minimum of $9, it was a cold night and then rained HARD (rare in the L.A. area), and after all, I was just going to take pics and do an online write-up, didn't intend to actually buy a DS.

So I stayed home and watched boxing on HBO, I'm guess I'm just not that hardcore anymore. ;)
Although Nintendo did its best to keep attendees entertained -- the company hired a DJ to spin live, thumping beats, and handed out prizes like free "Touch the DS" t-shirts -- the wait was not always pleasant. To be sure, as the clock struck 10:00 p.m., the cold weather took a turn for the worse, first drizzling down mist upon those in line and then hammering them with hard rain. The downpour continued, on and off, for the next three hours, and while the line itself was moved to a dryer spot at a nearby retailer, it never dwindled.

Thats a really good turnout. Especially consideing it was pouring last night.

It was like Nintendo's official event.

Shit, if at least 100 people didn't show up Nintendo would be in more than a little trouble. :lol

I hope you were being sarcastic. But if not, that's a guy doing the classic pose from the movie Jerry Maguire.

I think he means the guy to his right who appears to be looking in the direction of the guy's crotch.

Wow you gays are flamin' today. There's a pic of like a dozen rather attractive girls in skin tight pants and shirts and you're all talking about the guy in the white shirt doing a Hollywood pose (it is a Hollywood pose, not Jerry McGuire). Seriously...wtf!?

They're hot but they're not nude AlphaSnake. I have tons of porn all around me so I don't really need to look at clothed ladies.

Any idea how many people turned out? I remember lots of Launch lines for the SP too.

A little more than 300 I believe. I'm sure more people would have gone/stayed in line if it hadn't rained.

Do the chicks have "Touching is Good" written on their shirts?

Cause that would be like, the first amusing thing Nintendo has done in 5 years.

yeah, that's what it says :lol

The local launch here was pretty funny; for some reason at the particular mall I went to, Microsoft was running some sort of general Xbox/Halo 2 promotion, so in order to get into the EB games you needed to wade through a dozen kids playing Halo 2 and a few MS guys waving camcorders around.
