Nintendo DS - When can we expect PAL launch details?

Does anyone know when Nintendo Europe / Nintendo Australia plan to announce details for the Nintendo DS launch? I need to know when it's going to launch because i'm going away for two weeks in March and don't know if I should pre-order or not because I might not be able to pick it up.

Has there been any hints? Rumors? Anything?

Probably it will be around March or April but if at the moment they said September 2k5 I would believe it. GBA lineup has been spared along all 2k5. For instance, Yoshi's Universal Gravitation will appear very late (that's what I read here @ GA).

Que some idiot to come in and say there is no PAL launch because the DS is region free.

Wrong, there is no PAL launch because it's a handheld, and PAL is a TV system.

A Nintendo product selling out in Australia?? :lol :lol

Not even Game Boy sells very well here. :( So I don't think you have to worry if you live in Australia.

Haha, nah I just want to get it as soon as possible I mean, and I feel like pre-ordering it to make sure I get it the day it comes out. By "might not be able to pick up" my preorder I mean I might not be here because i'm going on holiday for two weeks. :P

By PAL I mean PAL territories, Europe and Australia.

Yeah, but that's true for in the US also, I don't think Yoshi is coming out there until the second half of the year either, and they already have the DS.

Quarter 1
In the first quarter of 2005, the twin-screened, touch-sensitive beauty that is the Nintendo DS arrives; alongside a launch line-up that has something for everyone. Stay tuned for more details coming soon!

Also scheduled to arrive in Quarter 1 is the much-anticipated card-battle-based RPG Baten Kaitos for GameCube, boasting a sumptuous art style and twist-laden plot.

Plus, Fox McCloud and friends return to GameCube in Quarter 1 with a land and space-based shoot ‘

MCV have also taken down a story (or I just can't find it) that interviews one of the fellas at NOE about release details. He said they had been holding back on details deliberately, and admitted PSP was one of the reasons. He went on to say there would definately be European launch details this month.

I won't be surprised if they release pre-March, or with a nicely competitive price.

January 27th.
Nintendo of Europe is holding "an exclusive Nintendo DS press conference & Party" in Paris on the 27th of January, starting at 2 PM (CET)

They have told the press march all along. They could be lying of course, but it's best time to release it I think. Fairly soon, but not duting the drought (jan/feb).

Which is why someone convinced me to import. Never would have considered it.

I am thinking about importing all my consoles next gen, the last time I would get imported games was back in the snes days. My dad would get me games before I even knew what they were such as super Mario kart, super starwars and Street Fight 2 turbo.

Still the American warranty’s suck but I will save money on the games and on the consoles so that will make up for it, plus I get to skip the wait for games. Still I would miss going down to the shops a picking up a game.

Less stupid parties and more bringing the games in its fucking time.

A somewhat related question for those of us in Pal-land: when can we expect import prices from the US to fall to something slightly more reasonable? They were over $200 before Xmas, and I've seen them at $190 now after Xmas, but when can I expect to buy one at $150? Yes, I'm being greedy - the exchange rate would turn $150 into €111 or less, cheaper than the GBA I bought 6 months ago :lol But I should be able to get one at $150 when supply catches up, right?

don't forget the aborininals or something!
I get flamed for saying wigger in my burnout 3 thread, santa shouldn’t be allowed to make comments about aboriginals.

Let alone spell it correctly, sorry but this is now politically correct age.

You kind of lumped them in with references to animals..

But anyway, on topic, someone answer my question :P

No, my reference was what's significant with australia. Must be a real bad thing that they are famous.

what are australia known for?

Koalas. check
Kangas. check
Aboriginals. check

Well and then you have the barrier reef and Ayers Rock.

Personally I would have said:

Fosters
Crocodile Dundee
Sydney Harbour
Ayers Rock

and...Neighbours/Home&Away :p

Don't worry mate, if you didn't mean any offense.

not meant as any offense at all. people make comments about swedes sometimes if we have polarbears in the street. I take no offense for that, I just laugh :)

It’s Disrespectful to be so blasé about a race, fuck I won’t spell it properly and I will make a throw away comment.

It’s like saying how about them chicorita Indians.

Nice to see that you made the effort to spell there name correctly the 2nd time.

Anyway I like you Santa so I will assume it was a moment of bad judgment, heck I have done it many times.

you can buy from liksang a DS for 140 euro. (asain DS has 220v so you can plug it direclty in the wallet)
if you compare thet with the 99euro pricetag of a gba SP at the moment, that's a good price

Don't want to pay more than the recommeded retail price in the US though ($150, or ~€111). Guess I'll have to wait till they're a little more widely available.
