Nintendo giving away nintendogs for free?

I heard people are getting a free advance copies of Nintendogs, just for registering a certain amount of games.

Not that I actually care about the game, I thought someone would be interested.

If you were selected, you would've gotten an e-mail about it. According to the IGN DS-channel it's quite random. You don't have to have a lot of games just to get the e-mail, just luck.

wtf? nintendo giving free games from mynintendo? why did i give out those registration numbers!

i probably wouldnt get one anyway since i dont have a NDS registered

Ah, I guess it's like what they did with Animal Crossing -- send out early copies to a select group of people who they have on file, then use their reactions as marketing research etc.

I got the email. They said I'll have my copy by August 1st.

Dear My Nintendo member,

Based on your My Nintendo product registration, you have been selected to
participate in an exciting program. We are offering you a chance to receive
a free advance copy of Nintendogs, the newest sensation for the Nintendo DS.
Along with a copy of the game, you will have access to a members-only
online community called the Nintendo Kennel Club.

Yeah, but for Animal Crossing you had to enter a contest for it. This seems like random luck.

Sorry, but you are not eligible for this promotion. But don't worry! The Nintendo Kennel Club will be open to everyone when Nintendogs is released on August 22! Stay tuned to www.Nintendogs.com in the coming weeks for more information. Be sure to keep your My Nintendo profile up-to-date so we can include you in future programs!

Meuh.

Apparently you need to have registered 25 games or more to get it.

EDIT : Guess not, from what ive hear everyone who got the deal had Meteos registered, thats obviously not the only factor but seems to be common from everyone who has been lucky enough to get it.

25? Holy shit. That's at least 750 bucks worth of Nintendo published games right there. I'd rather just shell out the 30 for Nintendogs.

According to the Nintendo boards, that's not correct. Its random and the games you register may play a part.

Tons of the Nintendo faithful there have more games than that reg'd and are pissed off that they are getting nothing.

Check ebay around August 1st. You 'll see copies there I'm betting.

I have a ton of games and 3 systems registered and I don't qualify? What do I have to do?
I have four systems registered and I still didn't get it. :lol

For Animal Crossing they made a competition out of it. Finally my love for haiku paid off.

Any indication as to how many copies of Nintendogs this promotion includes?

Yeah there's at least one guy on the IGN boards who's going to get his free. I believe he'll either receive it August 1st or that's the shipping date, though I suspect the latter. Still, I'll make sure to let you guys know what his impressions are ASAP.

evilromero from GAF is getting it.

I doubt it's worth registering right now in hopes of getting in on this promotion. Now that Nintendo has chosen one round of folks and sent out the emails, I'd bet that's it. They're going to be sending the games in a week and a half after all...

Yeah, but I've still just put in registration info for 5 things for whenever something similar happens again. My FF1&2 registration code claims to have already been used. Damn you haxorz!

That doesn't mean you still can't register it. ;)

Grrr...

"Not qualified" is annoying. If it's random, that makes sense... this implies that I'm just one mystical step away from a free game.

It was probably just a lottery inclusive of people with a certain amount of points / registrations accrued. The stuff on the Stars Catalogue for Europeans is first come first served... I'd much rather the opportunities where more regular and like a sort of lottery.

Perhaps because you all have registered so many games and systems Nintendo figures that you are going to buy the game anyways. Maybe they want to give it to people who might not buy the game to build hype. Just a thought.

Doesn't make it right though.

Depending on which version Nintendo sends me I'm going to buy a different one on Aug 22nd for my girlfriend to play. What a good deal. Nintendo wins either way, since I'm buying it twice.

There are almost definitely other factors at work here.

- Demographics: they're probably targeting as many girls as possible
- Activity in the NOA online community: your message board posting history/frequency

It's probably not random luck; they want people who are going to enjoy Nintendogs and be active participants in the Kennel Club.

Damn nintendo, good way to continue to piss off your biggest supporters.

28 Products Registered, and no email and I don't qualify.

Laaaaaame. Not eligible. That's what I get for not registering Nintendo games (or in this case the DS system) THE INSTANT I GET THEM

What pisses me off is that I have so many first party GBA games and GCN games from before they came with the PINs :(

That better not a major factor, or the true collector nerds (like myself) will never get the good stuff. Sigh.

Maybe if you're already getting the magazine or have gotten a certain amount of free things already youre not eligible.

Never got Zelda or the Magazine

Hmm ok..I was able to register my NDS/GBA/GBASP/NGC but as for the NDS games I have here what exactly do we type in for those? I didn't receive any special card with Super Mario 64 DS, Kirby Canvas Curse, Yoshi Touch and Go, or Wario Touched. I just got this DS and games 3 days ago...
