Nintendo IGN editor opening: dream job or temporary position?

I say dream job or temporary position because this could be an amazing job if Nintendo holds fast on the handhelds and the Revolution sells well, but if the Revolution pulls a Gamecube who knows Nintendo could pull a SEGA.

Juan Castro is gone to the PSP sector, so who will Matt Cassamania talk to all day?
It could be you if you can do this:

Must be 18 years of age or older

At least two years writing experience at a Website or journalistic publication
Extensive knowledge of Nintendo games
Excellent verbal and social skills
Experience with html
Extensive knowledge of the gaming industry, including specific games, publishers and developers
Love and acceptance of all videogame systems, including GameCube, PS2, Xbox, GBA, Nintendo DS, PSP and PCs.
Quality-oriented
Winning attitude
Experience with video recording, capturing or editing a plus
Can work in the San Francisco Bay area

Anyone on GAF cocky enough to say they fit these requirements or have actually applied? I hardly qualify unless posting on GAF counts as "writing experience at a Website?"

I don't qualify for any of that :lol

which gaffer qualifies and is willing to take that position?

Outstanding writing skills
Excellent verbal and social skills
Quality-oriented

Since when did these matter to IGN?

The job would seem interesting, but I wouldn't like being affiliated with IGN. Well, at least I would get benefits like playing games before others.

It's funny and good at the same time that IGN had saw it fit to include this as their criteria.
Considering there's no real improvement in their journalistic integrity.

Well, I might as well apply. I'm in Sacramento, so I can get to SF without that much of a problem... I've got 2 years experience as a newspaper writer, and I can always vaguely lump together my work at TMK / DDNCB / time spent running GameSpy's CheatingPlanet / etc.. I wonder how much IGN pays...

Bah. I just need to come up with current references who sound impressive... I wonder if I can track down my old editor?

EDIT: Wait -- where is that position listed? I'm not seeing it on the IGN Corporate page, although I do see a listing for a PSP editor.

That's what I hate about being a Journalist. I'm currently going to college for my Degree in Journalism, but I don't wanna move from New York all the way to Cali just to get the job that I want. I might do it for the right job, but it's not something that I really want to do all that much.

Everything except being able to work in the San Fran area... That, and I'd never be caught dead having any association with or having to answer to Matt Cassamassasshole.

Juan is a nice fellow. Best of luck to him and whoever fills his shoes. I'd apply if I lived in SF and and didn't have a strong committment to PGC and didn't have a great non-gaming career ahead of me. It would be fun to try to help at least one channel of IGN reach its full potential.

Doesn't he work for Wired?

Only freelance.

damn I might qualify, but I moved from San Fran 2 years ago :(

It would be fun watching Matt sitting around doing nothing during the days, and finally posting a small update that has been reported on GAF hours ago before going home.

How about moving back? You would be awesome as a Nintendo editor.

heh thanks, but I just didn't move out of Cisco. I also moved back to Sweden. (lived in the US for 4-5 years)

Too bad I signed for going back to college this year.
Otherwise, I probably did apply and if accepted, move. Because the only thing I'm not qualifying for is the san francisco bay area. (The english can be worked on :P )

Has IGN64/Cube ever been anything except Matt + other guy? He must've had a dozen partners who've all moved on to other things, but he's... trapped.
