While it was down did they rephrase this message? It seems like it matters even less now. Maybe they didn't want people thinking winning the vote had anything to do with getting the job.

"Thanks for taking the poll, again please note that this online poll is just for fun and does not count toward Nintendo's final decision."

Well, I just got a call back about the Nintendo Street Team and....

I missed the damn call because it went straight to my voicemail (I get no reception where I live) and now I have to wait until tomorrow to return the call to see if it was a congratulatory or consoling phone call.

DAMNIT!

But I guess you guys can stop voting and stuff, since it appears that all decisions are final now. Now I'm all nervous.... I think I might not have gotten the job because he didn't congratulate me on the voicemail, but he didn't sound consoling either, so perhaps I did get the job. He just urged that I return the call as soon as possible. Damn damn damn.

Now I need to find something to do for the next 14 hours before I can return the call....

Not to get your hopes up or anything, but that sounds like a good thing. :)

You could always go see Spider-Man 2.

14 hours? You could practice for your new job by playing Kirby Air Ride for 1/4th of the recommended time.

YOU'RE HIRED! 48 NINTENDO FANS WIN THE ULTIMATE SUMMER JOB

Troy McClain of The Apprentice Offers Street-Smart Tips
as Teams Battle for a $40,000 Team Bonus

REDMOND, Wash.--July 8, 2004--Forty-eight Nintendo fans heard the
sweetest news today: You're hired! Chosen from hundreds who auditioned
for coveted roles on the Nintendo Street Team, these lucky winners
will get paid to play the newest games for Nintendo GameCube(TM) and
Game Boy(R) Advance SP at music festivals, fairs and sporting events
all summer.
Six teams of eight from Chicago, Atlanta, Dallas, New York, Los
Angeles and Seattle make up the Nintendo Street Team. And, as if
getting paid $100 a day for a three-day workweek is not enough, the
teams will compete for a $40,000 team bonus. To prepare for their
rigorous summer of video game play, the new Nintendo Street Teams are
training today at Nintendo boot camps in their respective cities.
In Los Angeles, Troy McClain, the street-smart star who appeared
on The Apprentice, will coach one team from his own California-style
"Board Room" on the beach.
"The Nintendo Street Team is definitely the Ultimate Summer Job,"
says McClain. "No boardrooms, no CEOs, no firings. What could be
better than a job where you get paid to play Nintendo video games plus
get a shot at winning a $40,000 team bonus?"
In addition to giving consumers a taste of Nintendo's upcoming
games, each week the six teams will be assigned a challenge, such as
performing a live karaoke stunt or visiting a local children's
charity. The teams that best complete that challenge will receive
points, and the team with the most points at the end of the summer
will win a team bonus of $40,000, to be divided among the eight
members.
Fans who register with My Nintendo at Nintendo.com can also vote
each week for the team that they think performed the Team Challenge
the best. Online voting will help contribute to a team's weekly score.
One voter will be chosen at random at the end of the program to become
an honorary Nintendo Street Team member by winning his or her own
"summer bonus" of $5,000.
The names, hometowns and bios of the 48 Ultimate Summer Job
contest winners can be found at www.nintendostreetteam.com. This week,
Nintendo will post the 90-second video clips that helped each member
secure a spot on the Nintendo Street Team. Winners were chosen based
on their enthusiasm for Nintendo as well as their people skills.
Members of the public can follow the teams' activities throughout the
summer online. Visitors can view a calendar of events to find out when
the Street Teams might be visiting a spot near them, keep track of
Team Challenge results, read members' diaries and view photos of them
in action.

Thank you EVERYONE for voting for me. And those lucky L.A. bastards...!! Not for spending the day with Mr. Apprentice contestant, but for getting to do the "boot camp" training. Although, we did get to have our training in a hotel conference room that had quite the fancy carpeting. No complaints though! Looking forward to hitting the streets again, and if anyone is in the Dallas area, come check us out, it'd be great to meet fellow GAFers.

As for this $40,000 prize thing, I don't even know what to think of it yet. It's all quite overwhelming right now, as we're going to have to completely step it up week after week. 25% of the vote will be online though, meaning that if every week you vote for DALLAS, I am that much closer to winning a piece of that $40,000.

I've already witnessed the mighty power of GAF when you guys voted me in as a finalist, but I don't think I can ask for you guys to just vote for the DALLAS team anymore since you've already done so much.

HOWEVER, if you do help DALLAS to claim the title of the Ultimate Team, I will definitely offer you guys a piece of it. I don't know how I'll divide it yet, but most likely I would choose small sums of cash and give everyboady a piece, for instance choose 10 members and give them $50 each, or choose 5 members and give them $100 each.

Again, the online vote is only 25%, so I don't want to split it ALL with you guys, but nevertheless, I feel like I owe you guys if we do end up winning the prize. The other 5 markets are going to be tough as hell to beat too, so I don't want to think about dividing money before its even won, but just to mention it for now.

Though others may disagree - if you win the prize Corey, keep the money for yourself. Distributing it amongst the forum will be a headache.

If you really want to give something back to GAF, donate some of that to the GAF server fund. Just ask one of your friendly admins, such as WasabiKing, and he'll be able to help you out with the donation info.

Congratulations, by the way.

edit: Voting only takes a few clicks, don't sweat it. Enjoy your "ultimate summer job." =)
