Nintendo Switch 2 bundle with Pokemon Legends Z-A announced | Available October 16

I am going to assume this is a new Pokémon game that is going to be released on both switch consoles? ( don't know shit about pokemon )

if so, kinda kills the potential sales of the Switch 2 if it was exclusive to that.

If it was a physical game in it instead of digital, I'd probably bite. I collect physical games, so still will buy the base model if I ever buy a Switch 2.

Yes both systems, announced like last year or even before that

I wish I could find a switch 2 in stock anywhere. Everytime I try to get one when a restock happens, they're all sold out by the time I can get signed in
It's kinda crazy. I signed up for the queue on the Nintendo website and still haven't received the notification to order a Switch 2.

I signed up for their preorder thing and I didn't realize fucking yahoo decided to send it to fucking Junk so I never saw it until weeks after it expired….

Hardly. See Pokémon Yellow and Gold / Silver on the Gameboy / GBC. I know because I never had the original GB and the GBC came at the perfect time so I skipped right to that one.

So yeah they would still most likely be drawn to better looks and performance with the 2 version unless they want to pay $10 later on to upgrade it.

Either way they win since this is the first of many Pokemon games on the Switch 2.

Still this bundle is nothing special for those who wanted a different looking system but I'm sure it will still sell a lot to those who don't have the 2 yet.

This is the best possible time to release it with Pokemania still running wild brother.

That too. its not even a limited edition or even a sticker on the dock or the controller lol. just low effort lol.

but.. i think its being cheaper than the console alone and the game alone, make sense I guess ( if its same price Mario kart bundle that is )

It just means it's gonna be more widely available without the need for it to be scalped unless they really like that box art. If anything it would cannibalize the Mario Kart bundle if it's still around at the time, but I don't see why it would go away anytime soon.

Like I said before the first of many so expect an actual special edition for another Pokemon game in the future.

Plus it makes for easy repairs if anything is wrong with it and you need to send it in to Nintendo.

I only got one because I signed up thru Nintendo's website and finally got an email a LONG time after it came out already. If you signed up thru Nintendo's website to show interest, don't give up the email may still come.

Well the digital game isn't that surprising (though it still hurts), but they could make the console look different... What happened with all these cool designs from the previous gen? Same for joy-cons... Where are other options?

I am not much of a limited edition collector. I don't care about this shit. I like my stuff either pure black or white, depending on my setup. However, in terms of sales, I am sure hardcore fans love this stuff, which is why I suggested that more sales would result if it were limited-edition items.

It's too soon for that kind of stuff especially since they can barely keep the regular edition in stock.

Expect them in the future.

How so ? You can always buy the game by it self if you are talking about switch 2 out of stock.

If you are talking about userbase who cares ? What's the point for many to upgrade if all games keep coming to old system and still somehow playable . It's not like they release a game every year . The sales be strong enough and it will drive the sales of switch 2 up if it was exclusive .

If my new fav game is available on specific system, I am going to buy that system.

But anyway too late for that lol

It's too early for limited edition Switch 2 consoles. We'll probably see some next year.

lol

edit: sorry I'm done laughing. Point is, Switch 2 does not appear to have a problem moving units. Sales of Pokemon will likely be constrained by the number of Switch 2 in existence. Nintendo does not want to ignore the 150m base for a Pokemon game.

I get that . It's common sense . I am just saying the more Nintendo exclusives on a platform the more appealing it will be .

Nintendo moving switch 2 units now is not an indication of anything. System hype and fomo always sells consoles. Nothing new here

I really, really hate Pokémon and a Metroid Prime 4 bundle would be more appreciated.

Hell, maybe they could even put it together with a special Metroid-themed Pro-controller.

Call me an armchair CEO but I would 100% crossgen this one. Again...it's Pokemon. It probably doesn't help that you aren't very familiar with Pokemon lol

This and Metroid Prime 4 are only on Switch 1 cause they were announced as Switch 1 games. They will be the last big franchise / tent-pole games released for the console.

Nintendo's two 2026 Switch 1 games announced so far (Rhythm Heaven and Tamadochi Life) are games that need the install base of Switch 1 to be at all profitable, and not games that will drive people to pick up a Switch 2.

If you're in the US, target has had the mario kart bundle in stock online for 3-4 days now, just checked it now and it's still in stock.
That's interesting. If you go to the site, both the $500 bundle and $450 vanilla "appear" to be in stock but if you click in all shipping or pickup options are sold out.

They could have just ran out of course. Either way I think by fall supply should improve.

Only local pickup and delivery options were unavailable for me. Shipping was still available and it let me purchase. There's a Christmas gift out of the way.

I think it's the other way around where Switch 2 would limit Pokemon's sales potential.

Yeah, Pokemon Legends Arceus has sold around 15 million units. Nintendo is projecting 15 million Switch 2s sold for this entire fiscal year. Even if they dramatically beat their projections, they wouldn't be able to meet demand for ZA if it was exclusive to Switch 2.

How so ? You can always buy the game by it self if you are talking about switch 2 out of stock.

A big proportion of Legends ZA sales will be parents buying the game for their kids for Christmas. Even if you set aside the fact that many will be reluctant to buy a $500 bundle just so their son or daughter can play the new Pokemon game, can you imagine the backlash if it's an IOU under the Christmas tree next to a game that the kid had no system to play?

Asking an 8 year old to wait until March or April to play a game that they already waited until Christmas for is a no-go for any parent who wants a shred of hope for a tantrum-free holiday.

If you are talking about userbase who cares ? What's the point for many to upgrade if all games keep coming to old system and still somehow playable .

I'd agree with you if the Switch 2 were starved for exclusives, but two months in it already has two huge exclusives that are all but guaranteed to sell over 10 million units lifetime (and MKW will likely do so several times over).

It's not like they release a game every year .

Not every year, but if you only count new gens, Legends titles, and remakes, there's a new Pokemon game most years. There has been one released roughly two years out of every three during the Switch era, with DLC filling in during the off years.

Gen 10 is probably coming next year, and there will be a lot more Switch 2s in the wild then.

The sales be strong enough and it will drive the sales of switch 2 up if it was exclusive .

It's not like Legends ZA would be a showcase for the hardware if it was an exclusive, or like the Switch 2 will have any trouble selling out this holiday season. I can't see an upside to making it exclusive.

blacktout blacktout basically said everything I was thinking but was too lazy to type out...all the parents and grandmas lining up to buy this game...meanwhile the big feature is that Pokemon has finally just barely made it to current gen without completely failing on a technical level and it was already an announced NS1 game. Aside from making no sense blocking their own sales, they would need to make the game seem technically dependent of Switch 2, which Gamefreak is still a few Udemy classes away from, but this is a good stepping stone there!

If this is the usual demand for a Pokemon game then good luck finding S2 during xmas.

edit: oh it's a Switch 1 game too. doh! Maybe not so much a boost for S2.

They already said the MK bundle will retire this fall. Probably going to keep switching up the bundles. Bad pun intended.
