It's a very strong launch with a well rounded game lineup. Open world online Kart and 4K Metroid with a mouse are both novel and extreme upgrades. Having to pay for a software called Welcome Tour is not.

Duskbloods isn't a launch title. I had the same impression from the direct it would be there and yes, its absence does ding the launch.

The battle royale Duskbloods, Fortnite like, is a 2026 game. NOT a launch title. The only one listed is Mario Kart

I think. I am a bit disappointed in that because I will buy 3 out of 4 of them and would like to have all sitting there on day 1. But its not too bad. Even if Switch doesn't launch in the US I can play 1.

Really though, how different is this from the usual launch? There is usually 1 game that most buy and sometimes it is not one they really want.

Luigi's Mansion, Knack, Miles Morales are a few examples. They can't all be last gen Zeldas held back for cross-gen launches or Halos or Super Mario 64s.

Nintendo clearly held DK back a month to sell more copies of it and Mario Kart. Metroid is their fall game I guess. I am kind of pissed that there is no mention of a 3D Mario. I just need a tease really because I am half concerned they don't have one more than half-cooked up at this point because DK may be what the Mario team worked on.

But why would they miss the chance to drop the game next year alongside the movie?

On top maybe not even exclusive and only time exclusive.
Donkey Kong is maybe "launch windows", but not really launch line up (day 1 or few days after).
It looks on top like a XSS game (a joke..).
Mario Kart is the only exklusive launch title.
