if I read that right, basically the ONLY thing you can do before the update is play physical Switch 2 games that are NOT game key cards?

Advertised features like Game Chat and entire Switch 1 compatibility is being added via this update.

So firmware numbers are going to be the same as the Switch. This is probably why they were shutting down emulators. Their software is built from the original switch and adds switch 2 specific code.
