No PSP megaton at all

Konami is the only thing saving the PSP at this point with MGA 2 and that awesome looking FPS. GTA will be cool and the Dexter game looks interesting. Don't forget about Grand Turismo Mobile. I have to say though that overall the PSP lineup isn't looking that strong. There better be some triple A games.

Have you played any Japanese FPSes? :|

I do think PSP has a pretty dull showing - there are about 3 must buys all up.. and well, a lot of it is just mehish. And what also scares me is that PSP = all driving console? I think I have to stop playing/buying these. PSP definitely needs more variety

Pursuit Force
Burnout Legends
GTA mobile

OT: I have to say, I personally found the 2 player platforming mode in New Super Mario Brothers to be amazing. Its different for sure - but 2 player, 2 dses, independent scolling? WOW. And it looked fun too.

Its not just driving. PSP has WAY better sports games.

OK, then in that case I would include Daxter, Lemmings, and Burnout Legends, all of which I am highly interested in. Your mileage may vary, but for me those three games alone would outweigh all of the Sonic, Mario, and Metroid games being shown this year, on DS or otherwise.
My mileage does vary :)

Burnout is very cool and Lemmings is a definite must-get, but I've never liked the Jak games and this one doesn't change that. I'll never escape my love for a good Sonic game, though, and Rush seems to be one.

MS inadvertently fucked Sony's PSP by forcing the next gen. Not only did they take up developer resources by having companies rush to get tooled up for the coming consoles, they forced Sony into a PR war in which they had to dedicate a lot of their resources to making sure the PS3 blew everyone away this E3.

Mario and Luigi 2 DS saved everything for me.

This game indeed rocked. I played some New Super Mario Bros. but only the head-to-head mode so I wasn't quite sure what was going on there it was kind of hectic. I also played the Survival Kids sequel and it looked like it was going to be a solid title. Instead of digging for clams with a shovel, you scratch in the sand with the stylus.

The PSP side was depressing. Madden was really really early and not up to snuff. Burnout looked decent. Everything else didn't pique my interest, and there really wasn't many other titles to look at.

There is no question in my mind that DS showed better stuff this year than the PSP, but if this is all that people have ready for it we're in for a PSP drought :(

I think it just comes down to the fact that PSP games take more resources to make, and since studios are now having to prepare for next-gen they may not want to allocate so many resources to a complex handheld title.

Yep, PSP is almost too powerful for it's own good. I have a feeling that niche developers will gravitate towards it once the xbox360, ps3 and revolution come into play, since they may not have the budget to develop on those platforms.

If you really step back and look at everything offered on the PSP at this E3, it's actaully pretty good. The same number of games were available at E3 for PSP and DS, so it's not like either one had more support.

Yeah, but the PSP seriously needed at least one BIG title. Like, say, GRAN TURISMO MOBILE. Is Sony just going to pretend that GT Mobile wasn't their flagship title last E3 for PSP?

Also I secretly hoped Sony would announce an official web browser for PSP. Oh well.

If i had a pick between ports of good games from the PSX era to what's coming up till the end of the year i'd take the PSX games lol. I can count the PSP games i must have on one finger, and the games that have my interest on one hand.
I'll be an optimist and assume that using a binary counting method you are interested in at least 31 games!

Yeah, that's why it seems as if it did poorly at E3. No single BIG title and lack of centralization really hurt.

Yes but PSP titles don't have to be limited to E3. Maybe TGS will have some biggies in there but then again, it could be the show where third parties announce all their PS3 projects and ignore the PSP.

PSP should be doing a lot better software wise. The developers and SCE have dropped the ball and kicked it out of sight.

I have no doubt that Sony's TGS will be dominated by the PS3. If we're assuming that PS3 will launch Spring 06' that would mean 7-8 mos. between TGS and launch. That's usually about the time that games start coming together and the real work gets done, so everyone will be showing off their stuff. It would also be a few mos. before the 360 release so the PS3 really has to have a strong showing and you know Sony will do everything in their power to do so.

Any PSP news from TGS would fall into that bittersweet category heh. Good in that there would be games being worked on, bad in that if something is announced at TGS if we see the game at all in the states it'll be at least a year and a half (closer to two usually) before it's released stateside. Now that E3 is over i think i'll rename my PSP Wonderswan II lol.
