It's out in Japan in just over two months, and they won't even commit to a Q1 release? Oh, NOA.
Animal Crossing is probably the hardest localization job by volume you can have.

Good to have confirmation. I will buy a 3DSXL once Fire Emblem, Animal Crossing, and Luigi's Mansion 2 have been released. (so, a little under a year from now it's looking like)

Speaking of which since I just got a 3DS Xl is Layton vs Ace Attorney getting localized?
Paper Mario, Epic Mickey and stuff..
Somewhat also Pokemon Black/White 2, but since those are also DS games

The last two AC titles released near-simultaneously worldwide, though.
As I suggested when Luigi's Mansion was delayed, it's possible that NOA is just deliberately holding back some completed titles to avoid another H1 software drought. Who knows.
I don't really think that's the issue honestly. I think it's more them preventing droughts and trying to give each first-party title a couple months breathing room for sales.
(Which still sucks.)
Layton vs Ace Attorney hasn't even been released in Japan to my knowledge. We are getting Layton and the Mask of Miracles for 3DS in October or November though.

No. Just no Nintendo. You are thoroughly stupid for missing out on a holiday release for this. Of course I'll still buy when you release in Spring, but what the fuck you're doing by giving Paper Mario the holidays all to itself, I'll never know. Animal Crossing outsold Paper Mario on the Wii by about a million units.
Ah, the illusion that you have LOADS of first party titles, when you really only have three. Missing out a Hallo'ween release date for Luigi's Mansion 2, missing out on Animal Crossing, a huge mass seller, to give ANOTHER Mario game the limelight? Ah Nintendo. Why man. Why.

Seems to be their strategy since announced Luigi's Mansion for Q1 of next year as well.
So they have Luigi's Mansion, Fire Emblem, Animal Crossing and Castlevania as their starting point.

At last count, they're releasing seven retail 3DS titles in Q4 (Art Academy, Crosswords, Style Savvy, Layton, Freakyforms, Paper Mario, Brain Age). Not all of them are terribly exciting, granted.
