Non-HDTV X360 owners

i just played some pdz at a friend's house and I'm actually impressed how it looks on a regular tv. I honestly thought that current gen games were the absolute sharpest that a tv could display (texture wise) and that any fancier textures would just go unnoticed, but I can see a definite difference between the 360 and last gen games. With all of the talk about how ordinary 360 games look without an HD set, and the fact that downloadable videos that werent in 720p were very underwhelming I was setting myself up for disappointment and was pleasantly surprised.

Yeah, I've been pretty spoiled playing my Xbox 360 on my parent's HD set while I've been home for Thanksgiving break. Thankfully, though, my aging Sony WEGA set actually has one set of component inputs and a 16:9 mode, so I can fake the HDTV experiences as close as possible. I'll probably notice the difference for a few days before I stop caring. I'll pick up an HDTV set next fall when the prices have really started dropping.

For those of you interested in knowing what PGR3 looks like on a 60" Hitachi SDTV, this should give you some idea. These pictures aren't ideal, but with the exception of the first before/after shot, they are all untouched aside from a bicubic resize in Photoshop for scale and file size considerations.

Most of the shots are a dark as well, so take that into consideration as they don't appear that dark on my TV.

The first shot is untouched:

I applied Auto Levels to this one. It cleaned up nicely, but you can still see the scan lines. From 11' feet away it looks buttery smooth though:

This shot isn't so hot, but it gives an ideal of the lighting and reflection detail in the game:
