Non-paying bidders. Growing problem or did I just have a bad day?

Gah. I've sold lots of stuff on eBay and I guess I've been lucky enough to never have someone not pay for an item. Usually they pay right away and the closest I ever got to a non-paying bidder was someone who paid for the item almost a week later without ever answering my emails.

In any case, I sold a bunch of stuff on Sunday and already I've recieved two emails from winners that they don't want to pay. One said he won too many auctions and can't pay for them all (guess I'm the lucky guy who doesn't get paid) and another said they don't use paypal (eh?).

So fuck. Probably more than 100+ auctions and now all of a sudden I get two NPB. A few winners still haven't emailed me. The way it's going, it might be more.

my biggest problem is that they always, and i mean ALWAYS, without fail, try to pay me with a fricken credit card, despite having it plastered all over the place i won't accept it. pisses me off to no end.

I've noticed a lot of sellers that don't accept credit cards. Why is that?

I've never been conned before from people who use CC cards but then again, I normally don't sell high value items. Luckily, my two highest value items were paid with MO and check.

There's an option to offer the item to the next highest bidder.

NPBs do suck. I ususally don't get them when I sell video games, only band merch.

the reason i don't is because i refuse to upgrade to a premier account (which is required if u want to accept CC payments)

As a person who's been using eBay regularly for six years now I can say without a doubt that things have been going downhill for years now. Back in the day... and I know I sound as if I'm looking through rose colored glasses but.... you got the sense that there was a bit more accountability from everyone. Yeah, there were assholes who didn't pay, but you could sorta spot troublesome folks a mile away. People were also far more personable.... and sellers actually bothered to post feedback, which NO ONE does these days.

Also, there was a point where a good deal of folks had a 100%. Now almost no one does. Though I will say, game buyers and sellers have always been the most troublesome, both now and then.

You can't even trust the rating system as much anymore. some good buyers/sellers get screwed on ratings sometimes and I've heard of buyers setting up fake accounts and buying from themselves and giving great ratings to get near 100 percent. So now I go through the ratings, and if you see the words scam or fraud from ANYONE, i stay the fuck away.
