I saw a message come up on AIM last night saying I was logged in from 3 locations (Laptop + Desktop = 2, so what's the third?) and I quickly typed 1.

Gha, how the fuck could this happen? Glitch? Legitimate they-found-my-password?

Needless to say, I'm going through and scrutinizing every account I have right now.

If your connection dropped out on one of the two locations and came back quickly, AIM's auto re-login could've detected that as a duplicate sign-in.

That's the thing: I checked the laptop status window when I got back--and it didn't list any disconnects.

Funny story

I was online, and suddenly I get booted. Uh oh, my password doesn't work!

Snap, I got owned!

Not.

*Ask for password via e-mail*

Look at that, it is different, someone brute forced it probably.

Oh well, better login with their password and change it!

End of story.

How can you brute force a login on AIM?
