NPD + Capcom LOLzers (RE4 PS2 related)

May, the month a little thing called E3 takes place in, is during Spring, which is when Gamestop started taking preoders on the 360.

My mistake. I meant to say I've witnessed employees telling customers the system comes out in Spring.

Ooooooohhhhhhhhhh. Then they should be dragged into the streets and shot.

Who cares about cost fact is there are more newe GCn owners in dec than people with 360s.

So? It still doesnt have any impact on x360. Publishers, developers or the buying public

On the subject of Resident Evil PS2, I think an Xbox version would have done okay, but probably the worst of the three because of the Xbox's current place.

The amount of units new or used wasn't part of my point, Anihawk. The Cube selling anything at any price is purely incidental, since Nintendo isn't supporting it, third parties aren't supporting it, and defending it or calling for an exclusive of any kind is ridiculous. It's a dead system.

Even without MS, the Xbox has more games coming to it.

Actually, there are at least 24 titles coming to GameCube this year. They are as follows:

American Chopper
Barnyard
Baten Kaitos 2
Chaos Field Expanded
Chibi-Robo
Curious George
FIFA Street 2
Greg Hastings' Tournament Paintball
Harvest Moon: Magical Melody
Kirby
Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess
Mini-Golf Mayhem
The Movies
Naruto: Clash of Ninja
Naruto: Clash of Ninja 2
Odama
Pac-Man World Rally
Rampage: Total Destruction
Sonic Riders
Starcraft: Ghost
Teen Titans
Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter
Splinter Cell: Double Agent
World Championship Poker

And I believe four of those are published by Nintendo. The system is dying, but this year certainly won't see its death.

this should be good.

go on then.

You mean to say that selling 600k versus say... 1.2m in the US for about a month and a half doesn't affect what the publishers or the buying public thinks?

You're right. This should be good.

Nintendo is publishing Chibi-Robo, Odama, Zelda, and Kirby in 2006. But aside from Kirby and Zelda, Nintendo has only announced its Q1 release schedule. While its support for the GCN is certainly diminishing rapidly, I doubt very highly that there will be no Q2 and Q3 releases aside from Zelda (Kirby, quite honestly, I expect to get knocked back to the Rev). So Nintendo will have a few more titles this year other than what's already announced.

Edit: Also, yes, Starcraft: Ghost was canned for the GCN. And the system will be dead this year, but it won't be a bad year -- it'll go out with a bang, which is the best any system can ask for.

Yeah, we've heard nothing about Kirby yet other than E3, have we? We don't even know a name.

But Crystal Shards was very late in the N64's life.

It really is dissapointing the way the Naruto fighting game and the anime series were handled. The last one was really good and it looks like they wont even get released here. :(

Speevy said:
Wasn't the Gamecube version of Starcraft Ghost cancelled?

Not according to vol. 200 of Nintendo Power, but IGN/GameSpy disagree with NP. So yeah, scratch that one off the list.

Sure. But in this case, Nintendo realizes how seriously, drastically they need a phenomenal launch for their next system. This game has been dead silent. And while Iwata and Reggie have said over and over and over again, emphatically and unequivocably, that TP wouldn't get pushed off the GCN, no one has said that about Kirby. I think they're just going to make it a Rev launch title. It's needed more there.

in regards to impacting the 360 or any other next gen system? No

its not going to persuade publishers to move away from x360, or take away the publics demand or even effect developers stance.

GC is dead, along with xbox.

I don't think we're on the same wavelength here. I'm not saying that the GC will receive more support as a consequence of this, I'm saying the fact the GC outsold the 360 as it did is a bad sign and a bad start for the system.

Unlike the Rev, the 360 doesnt have full backwards compatibility. Which imo is a big deal especially at the launch of a console. Devs can release their games knowing that their games will sell to the next gen console too. And with the lack of power with the rev, it wont look outdated too.... :lol

The Xbox 360 not having enough units available and thus not selling very many units is a bad sign. I think the only people paying the Gamecube thing any mind are forumers and Reggie.

It's like "Wow, the PSOne outsold the original Xbox in Japan." The reference point for a system should be what other next-gen systems are selling OR what the Xbox was selling. And you can't even make that comparison until there are plenty of 360's available. The 360 not having any units is bad, but has nothing to do with Nintendo or the Gamecube.

Speevy said:
It sounds funny, but it's really not relevant to any kind of next-generation momentum Nintendo could have.

Reggie likes the numbers, though, so long as he doesn't have to bring any others into the discussion.
You really are special. No where in my post did I mention any kind of momentum.

I was just pointing out there are more potential buyers on GCN than X360. Even more so when you factor is cost for game software. I know I am buying all my 360 games used, $80 is way too much.

Over which time period? Until there are units available?

The 360 sold so poorly in its first six weeks that even the Gamecube outsold it. It was a supply issue, but it's going to bite MS in the ass. They needed the holiday season to create artificial demand for the system for the new year, but not this badly (and yes, I do believe whatever happened was sorta outta their control. No one would shoot themselves in the foot like this).

I dont want this thread to turn into an anti Xbox 360 thread, but quite frankly the 360 has had a terrible launh. Poor marketing, not enough units, bad press, not enough leap over current gen, higher prices, no decent bc and they got Peter fucking Moore who cant really pr for shit. MS should fire him and blame everything on him to save face.

I really don't know how that guy still has a job.

I think the lack of GC titles for 2006 should actually be inviting to some companies.

The lack of titles for GC in 2006, means the lack of competition. If you can get a game going that has a sense of familiarity (be it a sequal to a franchise or spin-off) and if you can get the "this is a game to get" hype/vibe going on before release, you have yourself a seller.

Capcom's games have done well. Capcom JPN, I'm looking at you.

Apart from gaming nerds nobody knows how much x360 sold, all people know is that its a hot item and they'll have to wait to buy one. Its common procedure with any new item in high demand. Consumers expect this to happen which is why they take extreme measures to secure one. MS dont have to do anything but ship more units.

And thats bullshit about the leap. PGR3 and Kameo are big enough, then you have Fight Night (which MS really need to stick into demo pods)

Yes. CAPCOM!! RE4 "Complete Edition" would probably outsell everything but Zelda. It's free money! Do it!

Hey Capcom, how come you don't put Ryu from the BoF series in any of your crossover fighters?

Oh, and Capcom, please make another BoF RPG. But more like 1-3 then 5.

Oh, and make another RE for Rev and PS3 and have them built toward those systesm unique features. Oh, and have Jill Valentine be the star.

Im going to add some games to that GC list based on pure logic:

Madden 07
Tony Hawk American Wasteland 2
Fifa 07/world cupish game

The GC list is growing!!!

And wasnt Mario Basketball anounced for GC as well as the DS?
