Ok, need some information...

I have a Toshiba Satellite P25-S609 laptop, that has the Go5200 graphics card on it. Last night I was trying to edit some home movies using Pinnacle Studio 10. When I started the program it was telling me that my display drivers needed to be updated. So I went to nVidia's site and they said that the Go series drivers are not on their site, but I need to go to the mfr of my laptop. Head over to Toshiba's site. The only driver they have is the one that I have already. I then go to driverguide.com and I see they have a newer one, so I DL it and install it, it updates my drivers from 4.4.8.2 to 4.4.8.5. However when I finish capturing my video and I go to edit, and I need to watch the frames, all I am getting is the audio and no video. So my question to you guys is this. Does anyone know of a site where I might be able to find a driver even newer than the 4.4.8.5? And do you think that I might need to install the latest DirectX for the video to display properly?

Any help would be great...

ah nice, i was getting pissed off that nividia doesnt have the 5200Go in the list of cards for forceware.

uh wait a second, everytime i put in 5200 in the device id it gives no results. damnit!

Well I clicked on the 80 series laptop driver and then I clicked on the inf file, and in there down by the registry keys, I saw the Go5200 card, so I am going to give it a try tonight.

the drivers i have currently installed in my dell inspiron 5160 with a Geforce 5200Go are 66.10.

This is only the second driver ever on this laptop for the video card and it came from windows update.

Ok I knew this was going to happen... I downloaded the 8.1.8.4 drivers from that site, and I went to the folder and double clicked the setup.exe file and here is what I got:

"The nVidia setup program could not locate any drivers that are compatible with your current hardware. Setup will now exit"

So am I doing something wrong? Can someone help me out.

Thanks...

i downloaded the driver earlier today as a zipped file and not an executable. I read the readme and it did not list the 5200Go as a supported card. Yes the INF file lists it but only as www.laptopvideo2go.com supported. So since that wasn't very reassuring, i decided not to install and I am still using my 66.10 drivers.

you know this is annoying... I updated my driver to 44.85, but I am trying to use Pinnacle Studio 10. When i am editing my movie, the preview window just plays audio. It tells me that I need updated drivers to get that window to work, and that is what sent me on this crazy adventure..

so I went to laptop2go.com and I have been trying any driver that is higher than mine... I just tried the 66.10 one it seemed like it went, but when I look at my driver it still says 44.85..

This is so annoying...

EDIT: Ok I got it!!!! YAY!!! I have 8.1.4.0 right now... last release that works with my card. My only concern is that it changed my graphics card from a GeForce FX Go5200 to a GeForce FX 5200... Everything works fine, no issues. rebooted my PC several times and no issues...

And now my preview editor works in Pinnacle Studio 10
