First British act to do it in almost 28 years (Bay City Rollers did it on 1977/07/25). I'm pretty shocked, to say the least -- the album sold 95,026 copies! The last male artist to do this was none other than Mr. Big :lol No coincidence that they went on to record the ending theme for Hellsing... hopefully oasis never has to stoop that low haha.

The last 4 acts to do it prior to them were:
Yngwie Malmsteen :)lol) 1992/02/10
Lenny Kravitz 1995/06/12
Bon Jovi 1995/09/06
MR.BIG 1996/01/25

I couldn't believe how big (pun so intended) Mr. Big was in Japan. Every time I went to karaoke, oi...

Nope, that came out in 91. Mr. Big were really popular in Japan though and their records continued to sell well there long after their popularity had waned elsewhere.

The band is unsurprisingly on pace to be #1 in the UK with projected sales of about 230k for the first week. Obviously well below their heyday, but still a solid number when compared to other big acts currently (the Gorillaz debuted at #1 the week before with about 105k copies sold). Heathen Chemistry did a similar number its first week (to DBTT) and went on to sell more than 1 million copies in the UK.

"Who here makes fun of Yngwie?!?! I crush you!" :lol

Seriously, I'd take a flamoyant Power Metallist than those whiney hacks. Japan am nuts.

Usually it's some beer commercial or something that makes a song popular in Japan. Oasis must be whoring themselves for some Japanese product like Oronamin C...
