*first episode begins*

*Obi Wan is wandering the Tatooine wastelands, when he is accosted by an organized crime unit*

HELLO THERE

*he loses his lightsaber, but is saved a spanking hot POC Twi'lek escaped former Firespray.*

*The rest of the season up until episode 5 is all about this alien sidekick beating people's asses whilst Obi-Wan does completely in character things, like renounce being a Jedi and fighting exclusively with a blaster*

*episode 5, deep fake Luke shows up through a timespace rift in the Force, and enacts his two part plan to simultaneously steal the season from it's main character, and kill his moisture farmer self, thus preventing the turning of Kylo Ren and the start of the First Order, and his own rise to patriarchal idol among a toxic fanbase*

*season ends with Boba Fett breakdancing as a title card pops up: "The Mandolorian- chapter 4," Boba Fett looks confused, SSJ3 Grogu, credits*

I like it, Star Wars never had enough breakdancing and I think it's a great way to pop and lock it into Star Wars lore.

I'm hoping for this.

But it's likely all we'll get is...

I think it would be cool to see Oni Wan trying to subvert Vader and always failing. They never meet but are always one step behind.

Does obi kill off all the inquisitiors? Is that the canon explanation for why they aren't in the original trilogy.

They're all basically dead by the time of ANH.

That's why Tarkin tells Vader he's the last of his ancient religion in ANH.

Many “Whelps”! Handle It!
The greatest Jedi ever back in this piece! Subbed

Huh, so only 10 years after ROTS. So before Rebels!? So there's a chance that Maul somehow shows up :goog_unsure:

Maybe he kills one or two of them, but most of them are killed by others.

If Kenobi and Vader duel in this series it will break with the continuity of the original Star Wars. There's no way that Vader ever considered himself an apprentice once he became a Sith Lord.

Who's with me?
The less Vader we see the better. In this new Disney era if we ever got scenes with Vader it would be about him having to fill out TPS reports, reluctantly attending some Grand Moffs retirement ceremony, and having to kill young Imperial staffers who got sent drunken dick pics from the Emporer before they can report it to space HR.

I agree. Vader and Oni wan never met again until the Death Star. If Disney can’t get that right they are the dumbest of the dumb.

Already said it’s happening.

Unless Kenobi kicks his ass in this. Which could be likely, since Anakin losing so much of his physical body reduced his connection to the Force, so he’d be not as powerful as he was in Ep. 3. And then by 4 Obi-Wan has gotten older and Vader has had time to adapt to his new body more so his “now I am the master” line would make more sense.

Mind you, I’ve only seen S1 of Rebels so I don’t know how they portrayed Vader’s strength at that point.

They may also end the Kenobi series in a way that would make the Empire assume he’s dead thus making Tarkin’s confidence that Vader is the last of the former Jedi more logical.

I was a lot less nervous about this show before Book of Boba Fett.

I get the impression that Disney is spreading themselves too thin spamming too many shows in too short a time and are losing control of the fire they had going with Mandalorian.

Like after TFA did so well they spammed too many movies too fast and Iger said we need to hit the brakes. Now, Mandalorian did well and they are spamming streaming shows. In the past, I was always impressed with how Disney thinks long-term and is smart with their brands (Nintendo shadows them somewhat) but with Star Wars they are just chasing the quick money too fast and stumbling.

This was originally a movie that was going to be released before the Mandalorian ever aired.

Yeah, they also had a Boba Fett movie planned. They intended to release more "gaiden" movies after Rogue One and Han Solo, but thought twice when Solo failed.

Doesn't change the fact that they are spamming a lot of streaming shows now and Fett shows that they can't maintain the high bar of Mandalorian. They are just becoming a production machine.

I hope I am wrong though.

The difference is the Boba Fett series Robert Rodriguez did had no connection at all to Josh Frank’s Boba Fett movie, while the Obi-Wan show adapted the movie’s script to the mini series.

That's a pretty significant difference, but it by no means insulates them from screwing it up. They changed the story, and then they also have to execute making the show. There are many ways it can go wrong, especially when they are under pressure to crank out episodes not only for this but also the myriad of SW shows in the pipeline.

For example, lets say the Fett show was based on the cancelled movie. Assuming the original story was good to begin with, it would be adapted to a series and they could still have bad character design, poor pacing and badly choreographed action scenes. To say the least.

I'm not quite sure how working on the Obi-Wan movie/show for SIX YEARS is rushing it.

I don't think that they were actually working on producing the show for those 6 years.

Ewan got involved in 2015 when it was originally a movie. He explained to Ellen in 2019 how he had to lie about working on it for four years:
“It’s awkward,” he said. “The studio and the franchises, they want to keep everything totally secret, of course, which I understand, but as the person being asked over and over and over again, ‘Would you do it again?’ And I’m already talking to them about it, but I can’t say that I am."
He added that the more he was asked about the possibility of reprising the role, the harder it became to lie.
“For four years, I was saying, ‘Well, I’d be happy to do it again! I’m just waiting for the call.’ But all the while, it was embarrassing!” he said. “Lying!”

After the standalone movies were ended, the script was adapted to the six-episode mini-series. Deborah Chow was hired in 2019 to direct all six episodes and they spend two whole years (2019 and 2020) working on the scripts. They filmed it last summer/fall in LA.
