Not having an upgrade path and going the GKC route for a 5GB game is nuts.
They are out of their minds. I'd still get the Switch 1 version over a GKC.

I don't know about 100% the game but I will definitely be finishing the game just like I did with all Octopath games.> This game is 100 hours just for main story. After this there's side content! as well!
So they basically compiled all the gacha content released over the years (massive) into a single player, no MTX, somewhat coherent JRPG? actually cool, I'm for stuff like this as it preserves gacha games for posterity.
Anyone going for that 100%, good luck! RIP adult life.
For me, it strongly depends on the game. Not really bothered by 100 hours length. I'm fan of SMT and Xenoblade and those games also take close to 100 hours to beat.
With that being said with 100 hours long length I think I should play this on my Switch 2 instead of PS5.
For me it doesn't matter how long the game is as long as it's satisfying and for me all Octopath games were satisfying experience so I was more than happy finish them. For me, it strongly depends on the game.
I'm only ok with 100 hours in a SMT game these days, I felt like Octopath 1 dragged on and I didn't feel like it was worth all the time put in to it.
Give me a 40 hour or 50 hour quality JRPG and focus on just having a great experience vs this weird forced padding that shit. It makes it feel like a bunch of filler. So I'll play this, but I'm not putting 100 hours in it lol Not everything needs to be 100 hours
I guess that makes sense> This game is 100 hours just for main story. After this there's side content! as well!

yea I don't know about that lolFor me it doesn't matter how long the game is as long as it's satisfying and for me all Octopath games were satisfying experience so I was more than happy finish them.
I also liked 2nd game more but that doesn't mean I didn't enjoyed 1st game…..I personally loved it.I liked 2 more then 1, I felt 1 dragged on and the story felt disjointed and pointless, it felt like Ai made the story and forgot they all should be talking to each other lol

After playing about 6 hours today... the answer is kind of "both".Does this actually have a coherent storyline or is it just a bunch of vignettes in a shared world like the previous games?
This is a prequel to the first game, but there does seem to be some nods to the first game in this one. They specifically called this one "zero" because they wanted people to know that this was an okay starting spot in the series.Haven't played any yet outside of 30 mins or so of 2
Which should I play first? Can I start here?
I haven't noticed anything. I don't wanna know what it is. Let me live with my ignorance lolAudio is fucked in the Steam version (I tried the demo), the reviews say it's the same in the main, full game as well.
So that's why I think it looks worse than the previous entries.Yes, this started development as a port of the mobile game to home consoles. They added in additional story elements, mostly to do with the game's town building aspect. But it's predominantly the same story, and has the same front row / back row / eight characters in battle mechanic from the mobile game. They just removed all the gacha stuff and guest characters, and re-balanced it.
Earlier this year, the rights to the mobile game got sold off to Netease, and it's been getting progressively worse since.
Yeah it definitely does! It bothered me at first, but I got over it pretty quickly. The gameplay, story, and music has me hooked. So that's why I think it looks worse than the previous entries.
Seems like you'd enjoy it a lot! I'm about 5 hours in and am loving it.I heard that this octopath traveler have a 100-150 hours you can invest in it...very good value for the price. Cant wait to play it. finishing Mario and luigi brothership first !
You can do that in a different way later (level up your town and build the training grounds)....but the one thing that feels like it's missing is the ability to customize your stack of passives. [...]
