HomeLAN - First, this is the third publisher for the Oddworld series of games. What made you guys decide to go with Electronic Arts as your new publisher?

Lorne Lanning - Yes, it was a big decision and not one that was taken lightly. It took a lot of deliberation, but in the end, EA was the one publisher that stood out as really serious about creating a new IP and giving us the creative freedom we needed to keep the games unique. They also have a great track record marketing their games and getting product on the shelves.

HomeLAN - What kinds of enemies and other characters will be encountered in the new game?

Lorne Lanning - There's a whole slew of new characters. Wolvarks, Outlaws, Grubbs, Clakkerz. The Wolvarks and Outlaws are the ones causing you the most trouble in the game, and within their respective species, they have really painful specialties. There are Shooters, Nailers, Flame Throwers, Cutters, Snipers, Bombers... I could go on and on. Then we have the Clakkerz. Half the time they're good for nothing but a chuckle or a swift kick, but every once in a while you find one that's got some decent information, so you can get your jollies by smacking them around, or you can be smart and prod them for information you need to get through the game. Grubbs turn out to be great friends to the Stranger. Whether he likes it or not! But they also have a sort of respect for him, so it makes for an interesting relationship.

HomeLAN - Finally, what is the current status of the game’s progress and when will it be released?

Lorne Lanning - We are in the certification process. Most of the team has been able to breath a big sigh of relief and take some time off. The game should be on shelves January 26th in the US, and early March in Europe.

OMG!

I cannot believe the creative forces that have converged to create the characters in this game! They have Shooters! They also have Nailers, Flame Throwers, Cutters, Snipers, Bombers... I could go on and on.

Also, I'm about 7 hours in the game now, although it starts slow (rather boring really) it's really starting to get tons of fun now! I'm so sad this is an EA title, if only Microsoft...*grumble*..Ed Fries gone...*grumble*....quality down the drain...

The design of the worlds is just, uber-amazing. Humor a plently. You will have to get a bounty on an outlaw called 'Yo Momma'. So you can imagine, Stranger keeps making quips 'I'm gonna bag Yo Momma' and 'Yo Momma aint so tough now' it's hilarous. Also the Chippunk bullets, are like a wisecracking chipmunk on your bow, saying stuff like 'Nothing like riding a bow' and 'Are ya gonna shoot me or what?'.

It's really amazing the amount of details. Graphics are also really, really, REALLY amazing in parts. Microsoft sucks for dropping this game. With proper marketing (like EA will give it) it could be a really nice seller.

"Then we have the Pogo-Stick bound Jumpers! They leap around and...and jump at you! You are their sworn enemy, much like the Cutters! You see, the Cutters attack specialty is cutting. Hence, their name. We thought that would really add a sense of realism and depth to the gameplay, naming the enemies after their respective attacks. This is the true power of the XBo- I mean, the current generation of systems."

Uhm, no sorry that was confusing what I wrote. I'm having real fun with the game, was what I ment to say. Not that it takes 7 hours, just you sorta have to get into it, because it's so ODD, HA HA.
