Gameplay

--3 Factions--
-Allied Nations
-Empire of the Rising Sun
-Soviet Union
Wikipedia-
Red Alert 3 features a fully co-operative campaign mode where the player can team up with another player, or one of several AI characters such as Major Giles, a stiff upper lip British commander, to complete the campaign. The game has been promised to retain both the style and action-oriented gameplay of the Red Alert series, and the fast-paced gameplay of the latest C&C titles.[8]
The first Red Alert revolved around an alternate World War II between the Allies (including Germany) and the Soviet Union, with some high-tech esoterica, such as GPS, weaponized tesla coils, force fields and limited time travel. Red Alert 2 featured a Soviet invasion of USA with tanks, conscripts, gargantuan airships and psychically dominated anti-ship giant squid; its expansion, Yuri's Revenge, escalated matters up to UFOs and communists on the Moon. Executive producer of Red Alert 3, Chris Corry, has confirmed[9] that the game will further differentiate the playable factions from each other and "[play] up the silliness in their faction design whenever possible". The Soviets and Allies have a mix of old and new units and technologies. New Soviet units include armoured attack bears, Tesla boats known as "Stingrays" that can also travel on land, making them a replacement for the Tesla Tank, anti-infantry spider-like tanks called "Sickles" that have the ability to jump over terrain elevations and an amphibious transport unit called the "Bullfrog" that evacuates its passengers using a large "man cannon". The Allies receive a new Tanya unit that is equipped with a "time belt", allowing her to transport herself to the past in order to regain health, and "Cryocopters", unarmed helicopters equipped with powerful freeze and shrink rays. The Empire of the Rising Sun has giant transforming mecha, ninjas, a psychic schoolgirl and submersible planes.
Secondary abilities are to be common to each and every unit in the game, although how each ability is employed may vary slightly between units; some may be toggled on and off, others may apply instantly and some may have a cooldown, requiring a period of time to pass before the ability can be activated again. [10]
Naval warfare is still present. Corry has stated many units are now amphibious, trading effectiveness for increased flexibility compared to ground-only units. In addition, the unit called MCV featured in almost every Command & Conquer RTS, is now able to move and deploy on water; this makes placing buildings on bodies of water (excluding barracks and war factories) possible[11] and players who "ignore the ocean [are] likely forfeiting a significant part of their potential economy to their opponents". Further stressing this is the fact that, despite some campaign maps being entirely land based, all multiplayer maps will have significant bodies of water in them.
Full motion videos featuring real-life actors will be featured in the campaign mode. Filming has begun since the scheduled date of April 2008.

Very nice!

Game will be awesome- with a strong injection of cheese. And as we all know, cheese makes everything taste better.

That boxart somehow combines horrible with genius. I think I kinda like it.

Have a friend(all he plays are command and conquer games... Almost literaly) who is waiting for this too come out before he uppgrades to his new computer.(which has just been sitting in it's box the last month. :lol )

Nice thread. I love supporting this series. I skipped kane's wrath though, but when I heard that the beta for this game was included I just figured I'd wait.

YOU WILL RESPECT JK SIMMONS, JONATHAN PRYCE, KELLY HU, PETER STORMARE. AND TIM CURRY YOU BASTARD GUY
Fixed for spelling and justice! Some of the greatest character actors ever, and Kelly Hu is huge in many countries.

But the game looks great. Nice OP with a great banner! I won't be getting this right away, got to finish building my rig first, but it will be one of the first games I buy once I can run it.

There are millions of whiny 5-year olds on Earth, and I AM THEIR KING.
I am thinking about ditching fable 2 and picking this game up..... arghh decisions.

Ok, fuck Fable 2.

Hey buddy,

fuck you.

With a tesla coil, preferably.

Edit: I just googled the girls. This may be the hottest C&C... ever. Whoa.

Week 1, or whenever amazon delivers this one. This just looks to awesome to pass up.

Really hoping the soundtrack is awesome. It's got Hell March remixes, so it must be.

The Beta was awesome, can't wait for it.

It was fine for me until I changed a few settings and it made the water turn invisible which pretty much ruined it and I couldn't fix it. :\

I really want to love this game...i mean the cutscenes look RA2-esque-awesome, but the game itself does not :´(
The artstyle is soooo fucked in my opinion, everything is way over the top. Sure RA2 wasn´t realistic in any way, but back then they threw in the ridiculous stuff in mild doses compared to all the armored bears, mechs and playmobile tanks we´ve seen in RA3.

I want to get this game just for the high def live motion video, i fucking love stuff like this even if i dont like RTS much.

I'd really like to get this but I think it'd have to be on 360. I'm not sure how well the console version handles compared to PC. The PC CE is pretty cool too.

I liked C&C3. I can't see why I wouldn't enjoy this greatly if it recaptures any of the original RA flavor. It might have to wait a bit on my backlog though (Fable2 and Fallout3 are going to own me for a while).

Hell yes cant wait to get this. Lovedddd the first two and expansions.

Edit I remember the Cameron from House was in C&C 3, that was an added bonus.

the beta was awesome, any word on the DRM its using?

wiki- Securom :(
Executive Producer Chris Corry has stated that Red Alert 3 will come bundled with the controversial[36][37][38] SecuROM software. The game will have to be activated the first time online, but can be installed and played on up to five computers [39]. After the fifth installation, consumers will be required to contact EA Customer Service for every additional activation. He has also stated that uninstalling the game will not return the used installation back to the user [40]. EA's rationale for the continued use of SecuROM in their products is "Digital Rights Management", yet the EA title to have featured the most severe SecuROM protection to date, the 2008 game Spore, was on September 13, 2008 announced to be the most pirated video game ever, with over half a million illegal downloads within the first week of its release.[41] In the aftermath of Spore's SecuROM controversy, there was an outcry amongst some circles of customers who began threatening to boycott Red Alert 3 if this game was bundled with such "digital rights management" mechanisms as well. In response, EA announced that in Red Alert 3 the installation limit would be increased from 3 to 5 installations per machine. Many customers remained unsatisfied, stating that for all intents and purposes they will be "renting" the game from EA at full price

:(
but considering C&C3 on PC sold over a million world wide, and Spore did well even with SecurRom I hope people don't care.

You'll have lost interest by then!

Well maybe if you would pick up Red Alert 3 for some online co op action next Tuesday instead of the Fallout mod for Oblivion I would hold more interest!

Sad but true...if I don't get it right away, it is mainly since I know gogamer will have it on 48 hour madness somwhere btween 29.90 and 34.90. They always do for big PC game releases in the first month.

(A part of?) The Red Alert 3 intro: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u28bo1sZiyk Some spoilers I guess.

Oh, and Singapore got the game today, I want in on the fun too:(.

Here's my first thought on the game for both sys req and gameplay.
System requirement wise, i'm on a Sony Vaio laptop, duo core 2.0 ghz, geforce 7600 128mb, 1gb ram. It's definitely requires higher spec than cnc3. I have to set it to very low to play it smoothly. (water details is the main thing that eats up the resource)

I really hope EA comes to their senses and starts using Steam. I'll probably be picking this and C&C3 up in a few months. I'd prefer not to have to keep track of any disks.

And there's no way in hell I'm using the EA download service.
