I don't know what the confusion is. I'm sure they will have some nice cut scene ala the introduction of the flying heads.

The engine doesn't seem to have been improved any, volumetric shadow errors are still abound.

That said, I like it, and would have gotten it if I hadn't sold off my graphics card.

In anticipation for the G70 and R520 eh? :D

It is confirmed. The place to buy Resurrection of Evil is Best Buy, hell hole of choice!

Reports are that they added some HDR'ish effects and that the gravity gun or what not is actually way better then it appears to be.

Why do people still bitch about Doom 3? I played it and thought it was fucking fantastic. I swear to fucking god, we need a rumble.

I've heard that this is much better than the original Doom 3, any opinions?

Oh, and watch your firewalls. :)

It's essentially a sequel to Doom 3. That's why I hope we see a port to Xenon/RVN in the future.

Its a fun game. The "grabber" can be useful when hunters show up. I've even killed hell nights with the thing. Not to mention that spiders, flying heads, and cherubs are its bitch. The Artifact is fun but breaks the game into super easy mode even on veteran. The last power you get is only needed for the last boss, while the beserk power is probably the best add on to "Hell Time" there could be.

Dude, it's got the bad guy from Robocop 2! I'M THERE.

Been playing, have made much progress but so far have these things to say.

Maybe it is because I'm playing RoE on veteran (I played the original on veteran) but RoE so far definitely feels much harder. I would like to say that I thoroughly enjoyed Doom 3 because to me it was just survival horror. Maybe too drawn out even though I'm in the minority where I thought it was eclipsing drawn out but still liked it.

First, the Imps seem to be taking more damage though they don't seem as fast for some reason (most likely to insinuate the difference between the Imps and the new Vulgar demons, which are smaller but faster.) But they can now definitely drain life easily. At first, the first few enemies were easy to kill though. That is, until they appeared in numbers. The flying sculls, the forgotten, were a breeze until 4 of them appeared and then after I cut them down to two 4 more appeared. Sure the grabber makes them your bitch but that is only one or two at a time. Maybe it is just me but they always come at me from the back while the one or two in front circle a bit getting my attention.

The Wraiths weren't so bad as long as you got to them quick with the shotgun, at least they were. My first encounter with them again, the game threw 4 of them at me with an incoming 4 more when I wasn't even done with the first 4. There is absolutely no chance what so ever you have especially with the weapons at that point. The heart thing or what not right now slows down time, that is the only shot you have and even then it doesn't outlast them so you have to kill as many as you can. They also mix it up by throwing in 4 trites (two with each wraith wave.) I was hoping to use the trites as a weapon with the grabber but that ended with me getting killed.

It is still early; I'm only at the third level in the burial site where I need to find a missing primer for a stone tablet. Not as scared the first time around with Doom 3 but it seems like they are just getting started.

Story Stuff.

Interesting enough the person in charge of everything now is Mc Neil, a female (petruger in the D3.) I wonder how that will particularly tie in. So far it is as she is represents the good science side versus petrugers obviously evil science side. So far it seems like you are her soldier in her war against petruger.

Graphics so far, the areas similar to D3 but look way better. The areas that are different look much more interesting. Definitely much better visual premonitions of the hell to come then the first one. I still can't stand everyone's fingers, they looked horrible and nasty in D3, they do in Riddick, and they still do in RoE. ACK! The game appears to run much faster with dips only to the higher 40's from the 60's.

So that it can suck like Daikatana?

Thanks but no thanks.

Killcreek put the suck in Daikatana, not Romero. Romero's levels were actually pretty interesting. Killcreek's were worse than a beginner modder's attempt at a Doom 1 level.

Would just like to add something about the "free Making of Doom 3 and Weapons of Doom Guide", the gift Best Buy is giving with every RoE purchase. So far as I understand it, it is a farse. It is just a DVD case with the cover. There is no disc inside just a pamphlet. I went back thinking the disc was missing; apparently it is only the pamphlet. What a crock, can anyone confirm this?

Hahaha. I'm so desensitized to hilariously juvinile art styles that I didn't even realize that. Awesome.

Anyway, shit, this is out already? This totally flew under my radar.

Screenshots so far. They are downsized from 1280 X 768 TGAs to 700 X 420 jpgs (Tee hee I'm probably the only one playing RoE here. :D )

I hated fighting in this vision. Had my nerves up, so freaking creepy. Then the aftermath once you kill everything and the vision went away. Bodies all over the place too.

You really need to see a vid of this area. Awesome shadow effects with the fan and all.

This is the area where everyone's framerate hits rock bottom apparently. Mine went down to 39.

They said you don't really need the flashlight. I disagree. Argh, I hate it when the power goes out.

My nerves are starting to get to me though. I think the areas are much creepier now.

Can't be without the background machines doing their thing.

Forgot to mention that in Doom 3, if you stayed in the elevator the demons won't come in such as the trites. They can still attack you through projectiles though. I found out the hard way that in RoE this isn't the case anymore. It was a party in there with a couple of vulgars and imps having their way with me.

Thanks to the time effects, the zombie soldiers are fun kills.

Picked it up along with Doom 3 LE on Xbox today. I want to finish Doom 3 PC first. I just finished the Hell levels, so I'll complete the game tomorrow and then start the expansion.

DON'T FALL FOR IT! BE STRONG, BROTHER!

Eh?

Looks like too many people pirated the original or they don't care least on GAF. Anywho, I'm still enjoying it though. Oh well, get no use in posting high resolution wide screen captures of the yummy scenes.

:lol

CK and I were both unlucky enough to have been duped by the first game, he's just intervening so it doesn't happen again.

Introducing, and premiering for the first time, mars getting owned by Revenant rush.

Captured by FRAPS and encoded to WMA. I figured out how to record without fraps just now which is great since it doesn't send my FPS to hell.

Here is a nice pic for those that forgot.

I've been trying to do this as well.

Wait, how was that video recorded? That's still pretty low.

I have been playing it for the last 20 minutes but it has crashed on me twice. I dont know if I can be bothered trying again.

FRAPs. Fraps kills the frame rate comepletely and doesn't even capture all the frames. So in addition to the crap frame rate it gives you when capturing, it doesn't capture all the crap frames you running at. Put two and two together and you got crap not even close to what you play at. Wait a minute, didn't you read my last post?

EDIT: Actually it doesn't explain much just implied. Sorry :lol

Anyway here is how I would do it if I knew earlier about it. (I can't do that particular section again because I'm past it.)

recorddemo <insert demo name>

Once you are done recording go to the console again and do

aviDemo <insert the name of the demo you recorded>

Try reinstalling the original and then RoE back to back. After using all the different mods when I updated the game would crash after loading. After doing a fresh reinstall everything worked great.

I wish my framerates were that smooth. :( What's your setup?

This thread gets no love. Anyway, at the moment I think the recordDemo is borked. I played the game perfectly however, when I played back the demo lots of weird things happened. None of the displays in the game worked and every time I used the artifact the game crapped out plus other weird things that weren't there when I played. Especially the fluctuations in fps. Take a look, I will try again some other time. Think I'll post it in the Doom 3 forums. I don't remember any of this in the original game thus it must be RoE that is borked.

Here is the vid. This is the recordDemo then AVI demo. The aviDemo command is fine, it is the recordDemo that is borked. I played back the boss3.demo file. It is just borked.

Well, turns out that the in-game computer displays not showing in the demo files is a common thing in doom 3 and RoE. Original Doom 3 demo files at least don't go nuts but for some reason effects are missing. I took a demo of me fighting the last boss and there were effects missing on him in the cut scene. Oh well, there is a sample of the video I took of hell. (The first part at least.)

No sound though, to keep file size small.

Does id have any official forum to post at to bring up the problem? There are things borked with recording demos in the original doom 3 but not as bad as with RoE where the weapons are borked as well. Least the FPS is accurate in the Doom 3 demos.

Golem, the game is 10 hours long according to sources. I don't count hours I just play it so I really couldn't tell you much.

Been playing it, it's been pretty good. I'm at the part where you have to put on the hazard suit and get into an all-out battle in this waste area under a time limit.

I liked that area, full of demons and zombies left and right popping up from the waste.

Just got this game yesterday. I'm loving the double-barrelled shotgun. :D

Also the grabber is quite nice, because of it's combat-centric uses. Gotta love throwing imp fireballs right back at them.
