Official NCAA Football 06 Pre-Release Thread!

trouble... rising!

apparently in ncaa 2006 dynasty mode there is a bad sim glitch where 45 QB's have completion percentages over 70% and a bunch have QB ratings higher than 200 (which has never happened once in real life, the highest ever was shaun king, dm's hero). this consequently affects dynasty AND run for the heisman because it is difficult to beat out a qb who has a stat line like this (actual statline coming up from the game):

matt leinart:

230/293, 3,778 yards, 48 TD's

On one hand this should make it harder to win the heisman.

On the other this is totally fucking retarded. Do monkeys test these games?

Sounds like it will be impossible to win the Heisman now. How am I supposed to throw 45 TDs? That's just not gonna happen. Do these teams run at all?

Yes, they run.
The running backs run for like 2,400 Yards and 42 TDs each.

UNCONFIRMED.

But I wouldn't be surprised.

Here's CK's beast of a review for NCAA 2006.

On the field, the game is close to being as good as it gets. To answer the question everyone wants to know, yes, the short passing game and receiving in general has been fixed...for the most part. Receivers are much more likely to make catches in traffic and to not drop the bullet passes from top gun QBs. With that out of the way, the rest of the gameplay remains intact. The home field advantage feature introduced in NCAA Football 2005 is back in full effect, but it isn't as game breaking as it was last year.

After all is said and done, NCAA Football 2006 definitely delivers on the field and is very much the best playing installment in the franchise. And though the game has a couple of shortcomings that really hold it back from realizing its true potential, it's a welcome improvement over last year's flawed attempt and is a must-purchase for crazed college football fanatics, hardcore football fans in general, and those looking for a change a pace from traditional NFL fare.

Wellington,

Good review. You show a more in-depth knowledge of the game than any of the reviews that I've read so far, including Operation Sports. My only gripe is probably out of your control, but there's no way that you can properly review a game such as this without at least a solid month of play including many 2-player, online, and dynasty sessions. These topics are barely mentioned in the review. Kudos on mentioning the stat glitch. That's the kind of detail that you NEVER find in magazine/major website reviews.

Recommended by me.

Thanks for reading, and especially thanks for recommending. I agree with your statements, and I am working hard on the Madden 2006 review already. If you think this one was a long read, wait until you see that. I did not spend much time on the areas you mentioned because they have been in the game before and did not get any kind of a face-lift. Really though, it's supposed to take off from my preview, a continuation of sorts. The online play is smoother, is really it. If you have any questions regarding the dynasty, 2-player, or online features in game, feel free to ask.

Problem with online play though, is that no one was on at all until the last couple of days. That's the bad part about playing a game early, I guess.

Dissapointing that EA missed this stupid glitch. Looks like ill just be using NCAA to prime me for madden 2006. I already have about half an hour of madden 2006 gameplay under my belt from E3, so get ready GA League.! Warner to Boldin all day!

gee what a surprise operation sports misses reporting on another major glitch. way to go OS!

As did IGN. Not surprised since most of their sports reviews are bullet point fluff anyway.

Nice review, CK. Did a good job of balancing both the good and bad for NCAA 06.

Good review. And I bet you give it the lowest score :( Should be even lower.

Sports reviews are largely useless. Glad CK actually tested for glitches and bugs.

RUN BITCH! RUN FOR YOUR JOB!

JJ Arrington is a little bitch just like aaron rodgers. frank gore is a top 10 pick when he is healthy, and he is healthy now

p.s. gamerush is having midnight release throughout southern cal. i'm going to be there tonight, i will sign your copy of NCAA if you want

Looking at the ranking for NFC west Arrington is rated higher than gore in madden too.

Its over before it began. Cardinals NFC West Champs!

jj arrington is a fraud and a bum. it doesn't help that he is going to the RB-choke capital of the world, arizona. how many careers, RB imparticular, have died there? (only to be revived in san francisco, as was the case with garrison hearst! go mr. garrison!)

Wellington, your review said that players could use the sliders to get rid of the glitch. What slider settings should we use? Are there any adverse effects from the slider change?

Funny you bring him up. garrison hearst. how many yards did he rush for All last season with the bronco's? 80? hahaha He only had 1 real stand out year with the 9ers when he rushed for 1500 yards. Other than that its been 1000 yards or less and it seems any mediocre back now and days can rush atleast for 1000 given a good o-line.

the slider you would technically have to use is the coaching slider, and toning down the passing game. it's pretty complicated and time consuming to do though -_- (and this is speaking from madden experience where there are only 31 other teams to monitor)

A patch may be possible. I think i remember reading EA saying they are allowing their games to be able to be patched because of last year when they had to fix the madden glitches by turning fatigue off. If that were to happen this year they would be able to fix it. its just a matter of if EA will actually do it.

short of a million complaint letters (literally), i don't see EA doing jack shit about this. they already have your money and as such i doubt they give a fuck. prove me wrong EA, prove me wrong!

1998 San Francisco 49ers 16 16 310 1570 5.1 96 7 9 70
1999 San Francisco 49ers 0 0 0 0 --- 0 0 0 0
2000 San Francisco 49ers 0 0 0 0 --- 0 0 0 0
2001 San Francisco 49ers 16 16 252 1206 4.8 43 4 7 53

2003 San Francisco 49ers 12 12 178 768 4.3 36 3 3 38

look @ those numbers. 1206 coming off a potential career ending injury. ALWAYS averaging good numbers, even while splittling time with barlow in 2002/2003. and this is to say nothing of his incredible blocking abilities on the blitz. he is still bar none the best rb blocker i have seen in sometime when it comes to picking up the blitz

Off to Game Rush in Torrance, CA. The other local ones did not know what the heck I was talking about. Aw well, the thirty minute drive will be a great op to listen to the new Coldplay CD I got. No wait Adam and Dr. Drew it is on..... :D

He is a hell of a blocker. But aren't you a little nervous every time he touches the ball now given how bad his injury was. I am and I absolutely HATE the 49ers. The make me sick. And living in Northern Sacramento (1:30 away from Frisco) I have to deal with guys like you all the time. :) At least 49er fans are easier to tolerate than Raider fans.

Oh, and for such a beautiful city, that stadium is, in the words of Moe Syslak, pug fugly
