I didn't expect the Xbox one to be such a rousing success, so let's try our luck at a more controversial console. The Gamecube

Again, this topic will be for folks like me who just love their Cubes.

How I came to own a Gamecube

I bought my Nintendo Gamecube on it's May launch day in Europe. I got it on finance because I was so skint with 8 games and an LCD monitor. I sold the LCD screen and some games later when I realised what I'd spent.

What I want the most out of the Revolution:

All I want out of Revolution is for it to be a good Nintendo system. And by my standards - Nintendo 64 was a good Nintendo system, and Gamecube is even better. Nintendo DS is full of unrealised potential. If they can somehow give Revolution the same kind of potential then I'm all for it. Nintendo have great relations with SEGA, Capcom and Namco - and I'd like to see them widen relations with Square Enix, Konami and other Japanese developers. At the same time, more than anything, I'd like to see them get western exclusives to fill the hole Rareware has left. More than anything:

I WANT GREAT NINTENDO GAMES AND HARDWARE THAT ARE MADE FOR ONE ANOTHER.
Games that I can't get anywhere else.

I love the Gamecube!

They wouldn't really be a third party if they just made games for the PS.

Meh, you get my drift.

Point is there's no need for Nintendo to continue making hardware as the further they slip from being relevant in the market, the more harebrained their hardware engineering becomes.

I'm sure the Revolution will involve two soup cans with a length of string running between them and flash cards. :P

my appreciation starts with this:

Out of the thread scum queen! Nintendo make hardware for Nintendo software. That's why we buy both.

How else will the competition know what to do next?

Instead of wishing for Nintendo to go 3. party why not wish instead that 3. parties wise up and support Nintendo properly?

Used to own mario sunshine. Will buy Fzero GX sometime this spring, trying to find RE2, RE3 and RECV here and there, trying to get the complete RE kit. Ikaruga eventually.

How

Bought gamecube at eternal darkness' launch, wasnt too interested in the launch lineup and im not a multiplayer type unless its online, so ssbm wasnt a killer app for me. I was looking forward to ED a lot and it delivered.

What you want the most out of the Revolution

Gyroscopic force feedback and tilt sensor to replace 2nd analog stick. Camera work all done by tilting the controller, and the force feedback's gyros tilting in the opposite direction to give you a sense on your hand as to where the center is, the more you tilt the more the feedback. Also means that there will again be focus on the button layout, you know, these things that are forgotten for pretty much 90% of fps games since you always have your thumbs on the analog sticks? Also much easier to get into for a mainstream gamer, a lot of them cant get into an fps game because of the dual analog sticks, their coordination isnt good.

I also want to see Intelligent system put out some work on revolution and not at its life's end.

Pikmin 2
Paper Mario 2
Metroid Prime: Echoes
Baten Kaitos
Resident Evil 4

How:
Brought the Cube at launch with Luigi, Wave Race and Rogue Leader. After being initially impressed, I eventually became tired of the launch titles and sold them back the following summer, along with SSBM, Pikmin 1 and Mario Sunshine. REmake and ED are the earliest Cube games I still have which goes into my Revolution paragraph.

What I want for Revolution:
A good launch lineup for one. And if the system features new "gameplay innovations" they better be practical and not gimmicky.

More joint project .. I want to see Nintendo & Sega :) F-Zero kicked ass!

Is there an actual, technical reason why most screen caps from GC games look like shit? Because most of the games shown above look soooo much better on my TV.

i hope this turns out well.

Cheap Futureshop deal ($80 CDN) 2 years ago.

What you want the most out of the Revolution?

- More story driven games
- Old school Super Mario with high resolution 2D sprites ala Guilty Gear! :D

yep, crap GC capture device.

Favorite Gamecube game: Resident Evil 4

Game I'm most looking forward to: Fire Emblem: Souen no Kiseki

How I came to own: Bought one at launch with Pikmin.

What I want from Revolution: Classic Nintendo quality games with decent third party support. I don't expect it to topple the Playstation 3 in popularity, but I'd like to see Nintendo gain a bit more ground than they did this gen. If they're shooting for innovation with the system, I hope it's carefully implemented and not as gimmicky as connectivity is on the Cube.

My Cube Collection: Can't be bothered to list.

How you came to own a Gamecube
I can't understand how anybody *doesn't* own a 'Cube. I've been a Nintendo fan my whole life.

What you want the most out of the Revolution
For Nintendo to do what they do best; make fun games. It'd also be nice for it not to get its ass kicked by "Xenon" and PlayStation 3 solely because of crap like the Halo's and GTA's of the world.

Error Macro said:

Simple--the GC dev kits don't have a built in capture device. Unless it's programed into the particular game you have to capture with a video card, hendce the disparity.

How you came to own a Gamecube
I purchased one in April 2002 after the price dropped to $150. I bought it with REmake.

What I want the most out of Revolution
An excellent Mario game that can stand alongside SMB3, SMW, and Mario64.

The Cube is easily my favorite system that I own (and I have em all save for the Jag, 3D0 and C64). Not only do I have over 80 GCN games, but the multiplayer tites such as Wario Ware and Mario Golf have offered ten times as much replay as any title on any other system. In fact it's the only system I could easily get girls to actually play and enjoy.

How did I come to own a GameCube? Well, I planned to pick one up sometime Summer '04 in time for Tales of Symphonia, Baten Kaitos, Paper Mario 2, etc. -- but just like with the XBox, I ended up getting it earlier since it was on sale. Apparently I'm a sucker for sales. :P

As for what I want out of Revolution? Less reinventing the wheel, more giving me games to play. It's not that hard! Really!

How you came to own a Gamecube
I purchased one in July 2002 after the price dropped to $150, using money I won in the "Final Fontasy" contest @ GameFAQs. I bought it with Luigi's Mansion.

What I want the most out of Revolution
I want it to launch with 15-20 titles, with one or so in each genre, I want it to launch with a killer Mario game, a killer game in a classic but untouched franchise (see: KID FUCKING ICARUS), and I want it to be online - for real. Just one game online that's like, an installment of Mario Kart or Pokemon or some shit, would render most other online offerings moot to me. After that, I don't care. I just want to play games.

Fave game:

Monkey ball 1, played the shit out of that.

collection:

Don't know. Largely the big first party games and some sega exclusives like f zero and the monkey balls.

How I came to own a gamecube:
Burger from these boards alerted me that there was a game coming for it that involved a monkey in a ball and you roll it around a table. I think I may have started weeping with joy at this point.

Revolution

I like to think of it as the console that will make me BANANA CRAZY. That and another mario game...

Favorite game is Paper Mario by a wide margin.

Kid Icarus revival

Your favorite Gamecube game.
Super Smash Bros. Melee

Animal Crossing, Super Mairo Sunshine, and Soulcalibur II (w/ Link) are also excellent.

Your Cube collection
~20 games. I'm a Cube-only gamer.

How you came to own a Gamecube
When Wind Waker was shown for the first time at E3, I *knew* I had to get a Gamecube. I thought the trailer was so cute/fun, even though I think everyone else hated it! (Unfortunately, I found Wind Waker to be a huge disappointment. It is the least favorite game in my Gamecube collection.)

What you want the most out of the Revolution
Something different that PS3 and X360 won't have. Not something lame like connectivity though. Something more akin to the DS.
