GamePro: 5 / 5 (couldn't find anything for this one except the ad on GameSpot)

PSOM US: 4.5 / 5 (from promotional web banners)

IGN UK: 9.4 / 10

Ubisoft has delivered an incredibly polished, tremendously enjoyable and utterly lovable experience here. It takes all the best elements of previous franchise entries then expands and refines them to create an absolutely unforgettable adventure. It’s magical in every sense of the word and, after all those years in the wilderness, it’s good to have the old Prince back.

IGN US: 9.3/10

As pretty as the world of Prince might be when covered in corruption, it's absolutely magical when healed. There are moments when I felt like I was running through a watercolor painting. The four areas of Prince are wholly unique in look and each manages to find the perfect balance between fantasy and reality. If you don't take some time out of your quest to stand on a plateau to admire the vista, you're missing out on POP's greatest gift.

Gameplayer AU: 9/10

And when you couple these solid fundamentals with the ways in which Ubisoft have gone above and beyond to push the series forward, then you have a title that is AAA is almost every way possible. Just as you probably loved the previous Prince of Persia games, you’ll be sure to love this new revamped version. Rest assured, Prince of Persia is every bit the game you wanted – it is the game you were promised and a whole lot more.

Power Unlimited: 89 / 100

Prince of Persia shall instantly enchant each player with refreshing beautiful pictures and game-play which flows as a Mountain Creek in the spring.

Game Heaven: 89/100

Prince of Persia is a fun and entertaining title which breaks with tradition and earns some kudos in doing so. At heart it is a very simple game which looks wonderful and plays just as well.

OXM UK: 8/10

The look, the feel of the game, is one that turns back time and makes what was once the waning memory of an ailing genre fresh once more

PSOM UK: 8 / 10

So what you're getting is a Persia with better acrobatics than ever, set upon a stage which is as grand and impressive as Assassin's Creed but way more interactive.

Background
----------------------------------------------------------------
Set in a land rooted in ancient Persian mythology, the Prince finds himself caught in an epic battle between the primal forces of light and darkness: the God of Light, Ormazd versus his brother Ahriman, the destructive God of Darkness. The Prince arrives just in time to witness the destruction of the legendary Tree of Life – an act which threatens to plunge the entire world into eternal darkness. Manifested in the form of the Corruption, a dark substance that physically contaminates the land and the skies, the Prince must partner with Elika, a deadly companion, to heal the world from the evil Corruption. Game features include:

----------------------------------------------------------------
Gameplay
----------------------------------------------------------------

* A new hero emerges: Master the acrobatics, strategy and fighting tactics of the most agile warrior of all time. Grip fall down the face of a building, perform perfectly timed acrobatic combinations, swing over canyons, buildings and anything that is reachable. This new rogue warrior must utilize all of his new skills along with a whole new combat system to battle Ahriman's corrupted lieutenants to heal the land from the dark Corruption and restore the light.
* A new epic journey begins: Escape to experience the new fantasy world of ancient Persia. Masterful storytelling and sprawling environments will deliver to action-adventure fans an experience that rivals even the best Hollywood movies.
* A new open world structure: A first for the Prince of Persia franchise – now you have the freedom to determine how the game evolves in this non-linear adventure. Players will decide how they unfold the storyline by choosing their path in the open-ended world.
* Emergence of a deadly new ally: History's greatest ally is revealed in the form of Elika, a dynamic AI companion who joins the Prince in his fight to save the world. Gifted with magical powers, she interacts with the player in combat, acrobatics and puzzle-solving enabling the Prince to reach new heights of deadly high-flying artistry through special duo acrobatic moves or devastating fighting combo attacks.
* All new for Next-Gen: The franchise's debut on next-generation consoles utilizes Ubisoft's proprietary Anvil engine, the same engine used to develop Assassins Creed.

Como System kudos to Darkpen
----------------------------------------------------------------

Darkpen said:
The hardest trophy/achievement to get is Combo Master, by far, so to help everyone else, let me throw out some tips, some based on what I've read, others based on personal experience:

The combo will fail if:
  • The combo kills the enemy
  • The enemy blocks
  • If the combo leads the enemy to the wall or ledge

You get your trophy or achievement when the enemy is either defeated, or in the case of a boss, they change to a different phase (specifically during the final battles, beyond the black gates).

While I personally played this on the PS3, I used guides where people were using Xbox buttons, which are actually very easy to translate :lol, so I'll be putting the button combo list in letters, instead of shapes, because its not that hard to translate (and easier for me to type).

Code:
[U]Legend:[/U]
X = Square   = Sword
Y = Triangle = Elika
A = X        = Leap
B = O        = Grab

[U]Normal:[/U] [U]Elika:[/U] [U]Gauntlet:[/U] [U]Acrobatic:[/U] [U]Throw combos:[/U]
XXXX YXX BX AXXX ABAX
Y YYX BYYX AYYX ABAYX
XY YXYX BYXX AYXX ABAYY
XXY YXYY BYXYX AYXYX ABAB
XXXY YYY BB AYYY ABAYB
B YA BYB AYXYY
XB YYA BYYB AB [U]Aerial combos:[/U]
XXB YXA BYXB AYB BAX
XXXB YXYA BYXYB AYYB BAYX
A YB BA AYXB BAB
XA YYB BYA AYXYB BAYB
XXA YXB BYYA
XXXA YXYB BYXA
                             BYXYA

I highly suggest writing all of the combos on a sheet of paper, and crossing them out as you feel you've properly executed them.

Remember, if you think you didn't do it right (like if at the end of the combo, the enemy got rammed into a wall), consider it failed, and try to do it again. Keep in mind that some combos, especially the ones that involve acrobatics, usually causes the enemy to be attacked in the opposite direction it was facing, which may lead to pushing against a wall or ledge.

Your title is deceptive, and for that I dislike you. Grrr. Seriously. Correct dates or no dates, despite the obvious cleverness.

Hell yeah, here's the thread baby. Can't wait for this to come out, I've been dying to play it for so long. PS3 version day 1.

I actually like the new art style when it's in motion. Looks pretty damn good imo.
Getting tired of the Unreal Engine look in so many games.

I thought the title was talking about April 7th for whatever reason, haha.

This game looks awesome though, I'm basically burned out from Oct/Nov so I'll have to get it for Christmas.

Yeah, it wasn't clever when he used this stupid title for his last thread, a few hours ago. Now that it's smeared over an official thread, it's all the worse.

That's a bit harsh.

It's not even that bad.

Some people need to chill the fuck out. 4/7/2008 has passed by months. It's obvious that it's not what it appears to be.

Edit: Thanks, OP.

Making the skins pre-order bonuses is annoying. Making them available to download for a price on PSN/XBLM at a later date is equally annoying (speculation). I remember a time when we were awarded shit like that for finishing a game.

Hopefully they can still be obtained in-game and the pre-order thing is just a means of obtaining them early.

It's like explaining a joke. You hear the punchline, and it means nothing to you. The person explains it to you, and it then makes sense. The humor is lost, and the joke is merely a statement.

This thread title merely is.

I'm assuming/hoing that this is the case. I know that (an optional) part of the game involves collecting Light Seeds in order to unlock skins (and, I'd imagine, trophies/achievements.)

Terrible thread title that will confuse a lot of people.

Game looks ace though.

What does the 7 even mean? I know its 4 for the fourth modern PoP and 2008 for PoP 2008, since it has the same title as the original.

7th PoP Game since Prince of Persia 1 back in 1989...

day one on ps3, unless I hear something that makes me buy the 360 version instead. Already have an european preorder bonus, but I might get another one on release day as well. If I do, I'll share the codes to download those two Sands of Time skins.

lol, I guess I missed the previous thread with the title gag going on to be dismissive about it. Also, the picture for the rabbid shirt isn't appearing (or is it just not there to begin with?).

This'll be my first game of the holiday season, and only because of the free preorder LE upgrade. Definitely looking forward to it.

May i ask what country you are in? Im from the netherlands and we dont get any codes here, only an artbook, i really want the classic pop skin but it seems you cant around here, or am i missing something?

Yay!

Classic Prince and Farah Skins are pre-order bonuses only? Boo. Hope these can be unlocked in-game somehow. By any means necessary.

2 question:

1) Is EB Canada giving the free upgrade to LE?

2) Does this game have trophies?

edit: I think it does have trophies. Hmmmm. PS3 or PC version...PS3 version comes out a week earlier. PS3 it is.

hmmm.....
needs more bald, needs more gray!

this game looks great, will probably try it once it gets a price drop.

Yes and yes as far as I know... :)

I'm interested the DS version, I really want to see if they can pull off a good completely stylus based 2d platformer.

As for the console versions, I love the character art designs, but it seems too disjointed from the environment designs. Reminds me of those old sticker books i had as a kid, with licensed characters that you stick on random backgrounds that make no sense.

D,:

I went to EB in Australia, but I was told it's too late to get the preorder goodies, at least at my local store. Any Aussies been able to get the extra preorder stuff recently?

If you have a Wii there's a demo up on the Nintendo Channel (in the US at least). But the answer is no. I played the demo and thought it was crap.

As far as the exclusive skins go, Far Cry 2 had a GameStop exclusive edition that came with a code to unlock bonus missions in the game, but it was just a code you entered in the game and it wasn't unique. Maybe this will be the same.

I did the pre-order free LE upgrade thing, but the LE's cover looks terrible compared to the standard one. Oh well, at least I should get my free Sands of Time skin.
