[Duality]

SNL's season premiere is tonight, with Steve Carell hosting and musical guest Kanye West. For the uninformed, Tina Fey and Maya Rudolph are reportedly both on maternity leave but are expected to return mid-season. That means Weekend Update should have a new anchor, though Amy Poehler may or may not tag along as before.

Other changes this summer included the hiring of new writers and cast members. So the show should feel completely different tonight, and with Carell hosting, it should automatically be watchable.

Rob Riggle is gone apparently.

According to someone who got to watch rehearsals this week, some of the sketches still weren't very funny. But I'll reserve my judgment.

No, no matter how bad SNL is, Mad TV is absolutely NEVER better. Mad TV is one of the worst pieces of trash on TV.

The other anchor should be Chris Parnell, but Lorne apparently doesn't think too highly of him.

I also love how Carell has been in only about two sketches one hour in.

Kanye West intro was fucking classic. It was so unexpected to see Mike Meyers there, looking all sheepish. And the line like "Yeah, I only lost my American citizenship... still have my ol' Canadian one to fall back on, eh? Heh. I'm a canuck. " was awesome.

The show in general wasn't bad, but WE was absolutely horrific. I absolutely can't stand Horratio, Finness and Keenan...all 3 are so bad in 99% of the sketches they're put in.

Haven't gotten to weekend update yet, but the anderson cooper sketch was pretty good. Who's the dude doing the Al Pacino impression? That was pretty good.

And Darryl Hammond is still the man. I'm suprised he hasn't left the show yet.

This is the best Saturday Night Live I've seen in years. It's not that great though, but it's a lot better than it has been. Just get rid of Fred Armisen, keep Tina Fey away, and put the new guy that does impressions on more.

She has a really good range, she can do great black and white roles and all kinds of well done accents and personality types within them. I don't understand why she always gets so much hate, I've always found most of her skits really funny, not to mention she's just adorable. If she sucks I don't see anyone else on the show doing that much better.

It's true that there's a ton of shitty castmembers on SNL, but Maya REALLY takes the cake because she sings in EVERY FUCKING EPISODE. It would be like having Opera-Man in EVERY FUCKING EPISODE when Sandler was on the show.
