OK, so what happened to the third pillar?

Damnit, where are the GBA games at?

How many GBA games were there at E3, 4, 5? Why are all the new Nintendo games going to the DS, c'mon like stuff like Metroid Dread and Mario and Luigi Superstar Saga 2 don't really need the power of the DS. They'd be just fine on GBA, and I don't imagine they'll make a significant amount of use of the touch screen or the dual screens. And I'm sure there are plenty of other examples (Final Fantasy III anyone?).

GBA is an awesome system, with the best library of any system on the market today (Nintendo games + massive 3rd party support) so Nintendo better actually treat the DS like the 3rd pillar it is supposed to be, or I'm going to be seriously pissed. I don't want two screens. I don't want a touch screen. I want a port of Pirates! Gold for Genesis and a GBA.

The upcoming GB Micro gives me some hope that Nintendo isn't just abandoning the system, but the release schedule still looks pretty bare.

I salute you and your call for a Pirates! port especially as I would likely have a coronary of joy if that would have happened (it was rumored at one point).

But...I have to question your gullibility buying into the 3rd pillar bullshit. They are barely able to support a console with their schedule of releasing software and shit 3rd party relations.

The GBA isn't dead yet. Great releases this week, some very very cool titles ahead. Gunstar, Rivera, etc.

Goddamn, the gba is awesome. The DS will never be as good.

Haha, yes, I always knew the "third pillar" was a shaky one. I was just hoping it would be the DS that would crumble.

On the upside, Namco's Sigma Star Saga and Sega's Gunstar Super Heroes should appeal to the old schoolers big time. Bout time the GBA got true SNES-quality (16 bit era arcade even) action games.

The DS is the third tier line was clearly bullshit as of E3 2004 when Nintendo talked about how PSP games could be ported over to the DS but DS games couldn't be brought to the PSP.

Game Boy Micro is an end of life system redesign aimed at the most casual of casual gamers. It's for the same people who bought a PSOne because it looked cute. There are some strong GBA games on the way, but don't expect much after this year.

I would say that the 3rd pillar comment was their escape route if the DS fell flat on its face, which it didn't... since it is doing well Nintendo doesn't have pressure to release a new "gameboy"..

heh I never believed that 3rd pillar talk.

I don't play many handheld games so the SP is more than enough for me anyway. Maybe when the DS hits $80 I'll buy it along with Advance Wars and other good games.

Honestly, I wish Nintendo wouldn't have released the DS and just continued supporting the GBA.

I mean it's an amazing little handheld. Small, comfortable, totally portable and the best recreation of snes.

Infact, I was disappointed there wasn't that many ports of snes games.

Where were games like Lufia, Super Metroid, Act Raiser, FFIV to VI, Chrono Trigger, Tales of Phantasia (actually released state side), Earthbound (actually released state side), etc, etc.

I know PSX got FFIV to VI and Chrono Trigger, so I was cool that didn't get released on the GBA, but the rest. I mean come on.

The third pillar was a joke. I knew from the beginning that the DS was there to keep the PSP at bay until Nintendo would unleash the GBA 2. Going by the anemic GBA lineup from Nintendo, I imagine the new GBA will be shown off at next year's E3.

The good news is that it gives me a chance to catch up on the good GBA games I want, which is many. There are still quite a few good games coming out that seem worthy:

Gunstar Super Heroes
Metal Slug One
Sigma Star Saga

Well, its not much. The GB Micro is to GBA like PS One was to PlayStation. I still think Nintendo will support it next year but I'm not expecting all that much. I still think that Rare is going to make Donkey Kong Country 3 for GBA for example. If FE8 is doing well, Nintendo might bring over part 6. There's always that sliver of hope that Mother 3 will come out and Nintendo will bring over Magical Vacation.

The GBA glory days are pretty much done. What great days they were.

This is weird! Accroding to Rare they finished the game at the beginning of this year, but Nintendo still didn't give a releasedate, so I think it's a 2006 title. I don't understand this!

it's definitely slowing but there's still some great gba stuff coming soon and just released.

the most casual of casuals are unlikely to go for it if its more expensive than the SP

I believe every piece of this news. And add Secret of Mana, Evermore, and Mario RPG to the SNES port list.

Seriously, I wish Mario & Luigi 2 and Metroid Dread were GBA titles. :(

And, where in the fuck is my Mother 1+2 US release, Nintendo?! >:(

Come on, you're making a new fucking GBA, just bring it over already!

I want every one of those games on GBA. Plus FFIII and a new Mario & Luigi.

Git your shit together Nintendo!

Well, Rare did just release Banjo Pilot a few months ago. I imagine it will come out as DKC 1 and 2 did pretty well for GBA.

I also didn't know that Mario Tennis GBA was also on the way. That is another must have as the GBC version was awesome. I think Mario Baseball is coming to GBA as well.

I'll probably snag Dynasty Warriors GBA. It will be an ARPG.
