I saw one of the movies years ago on the Sci-Fi Channel. They used to show anime during prime time as specials in the late 90s. I think it was called Anime Week. The legendary Ralph Bakshi hosted these.

Of the top of my head they showed the following:
Vamipre Hunter D (80s version of course)
Robot Carnival
Project A-Ko
Casshan

It was pretty cool for me as it introduced to me to more anime outside of Akira.

I do remember a show or OVA called Gall Force, but my memory is hazy. I just wanted to ask, I see there is an expanded universe of sorts. Well more films and such. Is that series any good? I always wanted to see what they did with it.

Same. They had an annual anime week event and every Saturday morning, they had Saturday Anime. I remember back in 1996 or 97, they made a big deal about having the cable tv premiere of Akira. And one year, they had Apollo Smile host the anime week.

Scifi was also my first exposure to Tenchi Muyo years before I ever got Cartoon Network and got to watch Tenchi Muyo and Tenchi Universe. Tenchi in Love made a lot more sense years later after getting to watch Universe.

Well, the person to ask is Gerald from AWO aka the biggest Gall Force fan around. I remember him reviewing it on AWO here. If send him a message on twitter (https://twitter.com/Gerald_AWO) he'd probably respond!

I seem to recall him saying the other spin-offs aren't great but I can't really remember.
