Way too many scans to put in here but a couple of my favorites:

NES has "true-to-life graphics". That one made made laugh out loud.

I'll let you guys figure out what's funny about that picture.

EDIT: And also, I like how the Bad 'N Rad box is randomly on its side.

HE'S JACKED INTO THE GAMEBOY

i actually used these catalogs as a source for game previews back in the day. man, how sorry was that

:lol

Look at the hair on that kid! And the shirt.... Jesus, the 80's was one big disaster.

I love how you can hardly make out what is on the vomit-green, dot matrix screen.

Great find.

Man, Game Boy rocked A LOT. Gargoyle's Quest. Super Mario Land. Golf. Kwirk. Boxxle. TMHT Fall of the Foot Clan. And more. Great gaming in a portable format for the first time, that was damn exciting.

I wonder WTF exactly went down in the barbers shop that kid visited. It was enough to make him attempt electrocuting himself through the ear.

Bionic Commando. As monumentally annoying as it was enjoyable.

Bionic Commando was really censored in the US. The real name of it is "Hitler no fukkatsu" which means Hitler's Revival or something like that and you basically had to go out and kill Hitler (notice how the bad guy looks a lot like Hitler if you ever get to the end of it).

:lol

That's awesome. Reminds me of my old Qbasic game where the final boss is the "Space Fuhrer".

Bionic Commando was the first game I played with a cussword in it. When I saw "damn" my jaw hit the floor. :lol

Those scans really make me pine for the good old days...*sigh*

Yeah I remember the quasi-german generals you would randomly run into in those safe stations but I had no idea it was 2D wolfenstein :lol

Nintendo's New Trade In Promotion! Trade in your old Game Boy and spend 15 mins with Reggie and BOOM@! A DS and much MUCH more.

I used to stare longingly at the game screenshots on the NES/SMS box. I lost count of the number of times I read the Nintendo Players Guide cover to cover. The internet has really spoiled us.
I'm still waiting for LJN Enteractive to release Jaws - The Revenge.
The Jaws game came out. I mostly remember waiting for Nightmare on Elm Street. The original previews had 3 player co-op against one player playing as Freddy (and the main game was supposed to be you playing as Freddy, killing kids).

Yeah, I sometimes wish I could go back to the old days because I'm so jaded. Now adays the only way I can get off is on free-based moonrock.

haha, this drawing of Mario rocks. and what's with the F-Zero description? 7 courses?

Heathen!

Never speak ill of that 8 bit masterpiece. It was so good it is the inspiration for my nickname in fact!

Speaking of which, I don't remember that stage at all. Is that a pic from the arcade game or something?

Hey my bionic commando didnt look like that! arcade or something?

Dude look at the Karate kid. The art of doctoring screenshots is an ancient gaming tradition as you can see.

Yeah, I swear almost all of those games look better in those screens than they do on my tv. Just like with most screens today. :D

And look at the prices for the SNES games. And people bitch about game prices today. :lol

Still, looking at those scans it reaffirms my belief that 2D games simply age better than 3D games. Not to mention more fun. ;)

NICE.

Anyways...they should start doing this again now (screenshots representing the game, rather than just the cover [both is the best solution]) in Besy Buy and Futureshop flyers. They do sometimes have game screens on the TVs being shown...but it's the same screen over an over.

Commando rocked, if I could find a copy I'd play it right now. To echo what has already been said, wtf?@ Karate Kid and the Gameboy kid link. Also, what the hell is going on in that WWF pic? :lol

Reading the game names Nintendo should start using a uniform prefix with game titles again, or in this case suffix. Mario Revolution!

Fucking awesome. Looks like Mario is about to have a Japanese panic attack if you dont buy his system.

My first impression was that he was hopped up on goofballs, but hey, a Nihon-jin panic attack sounds plausible too.

Holy Crap! Section Z! That game was so damn hard when I was younger, I hated it. Anyone else ever play that bastard of a game? It was a strange mix, of a shooter, without a spaceship, with wierd dorrs if I remember correctly. Blue doors.

Man that game was a S.O.B

Anyone else find it funny that Nintendo has remade most of those Gameboy games in the bottom picture for Gameboy Advance and SP and they're still making a killing on them years later.

the turboexpress picture is the best. someone needs to photoshop it to make it super huge or something.

Wow does anyone besdies me REALLY miss the 80s...even though it was cheesy it brought some of the greatest memories ever.

I like how the stand for the NES costs costs so much, considering it's just a cart with a big slab of wood and a drawer with grooves in it.
