He "touched" you? Emotionally? Or physically??

Oh what's the name of that song of his where he sings "close your eyes, think of someone that you physically admire" or something like that? I heard it on Virgin Radio. Good song.

congrats SL, i was too far away in dublin and there wasnt a hope in Sweden, and i was punched in the gut by a bouncer in Cork....

for me it just wasnt to be.

thats a great set list. was it the extendo how soon is now?

Standard version, but iirc, they left out the last chorus since the song does drag on a bit at the end, and that's a sort of mood killer live.

Basically same setlist for me except in a different order here and there. I wish he had played "Hairdresser On Fire" Otherwise I thought the show was great. I heard on Sunday's NYC show he left the stage early(during "There Is a Light..") after a security guard tackled someone on stage and Morrissey got pissed. (at the guard)

Yeah, they're good friends (and neighbors)

BTW: Damien Dempsey (Moz's opener this tour) is fucking outstanding. You can tell that he truly means everything he says, and he sings with a great passion.

I know a guy who claims to have gone to Morrissey's house in Southern California and stolen his mail from the mailbox, including an electric bill. I don't know why, though.

Because even straight men are gay for Morrissey.

\/\/ Yeah, his lyrics aren't perfect, but I think it drew me to him even more. He just seems so honest and sincere. I can't wait till my copy of his CD arrives.

I enjoyed him quite a bit too. He really did perform wiht nothing but pure passion. I couldn't tell but the commentary he made between songs (and even some of the lyrics) were a little laughable but oh well, it was cute I guess. Kind of like irish, child, folk type thing. I like him though, guitar was great and he really kept me interested considering it was just him.

Quite simply put, Steven P. Morrissey is one of the greatest lyricists of all time. He was the frontman for the woefully unappreciated (at least until after the fact) group The Smiths, and has an incredible charisma and pull on his fans. Seriously, I was =this= close to tears last night.

single songs that are very accessible:

The More You Ignore Me, The Closer I Get
Glamorous Glue
Tomorrow
The First of the Gang to Die
Last of the Famous International Playboys
We Hate It When Our Friends Become Successful
Every Day is Like Sunday

Accessible songs from his time in The Smiths:

Shoplifters of the World Unite
Bigmouth Strikes Again
How Soon is Now?
Stop Me If You Think You've Heard This One Before
Girlfriend In A Coma
Cemetry Gates

Very accessible solo albums:

Your Arsenal
Vauxhall and I
You are the Quarry

Accessible Smiths albums:

Louder Than Bombs (start here)
The Queen is Dead

must add "Panic" by The Smiths cuz we all have wanted to hang the DJ.

Because the music that he constantly plays says nothing to me about my life.

Damn, I love all of Morrissey's lyrics. I'm obsessed.

How come there's so much love for Morrissey on this board. It's amazing! Personally I know no one who's even heard of Morrissey or The Smiths. Only my brother, who invited me to the glory that is Moz with the song "November Spawned a Monster". I was born in November...but I still thank him for doing so. :)

I read this in NME related by Jimi Goodwin of the band Doves:
"When Julian Casablancas has a drink" Jimi warns "he goes nuts." He launches into his favourite Strokes anecdote. Apparently the two bands were in LA having post-gig drinks in a British theme bar. None other than Morrissey was nearby, at a table with 3 girls. "It was fucking strange, man" Jimi laughs "He kept sending these girls over to say 'Morrissey is sat in the corner if you'd like to talk to him'. He is dead shy, but it was like he was holding fucking court. We were like "We're cool, tell him to come over and join us". So he came over and sat down, and Julian started calling him a fucking faggot. I was like "just leave it out, Julian" and he was all "Jimi's upset with me, man - what's the problem?" and then he kept doing it!"

Julian Casablancas respect + ten thousand billion trillion. I mean seriously though, if you ever saw Morrissey wouldn't you just want to call him a fucking faggot.. Julian Casablancas totally lived out that dream.

How can we all forget "Please, Please, Please, Let Me Get What I Want", what a great song...

Oh, and the Meat Is Murder album. These are both things done with the Smiths.

Shit that's a good set (despite one or two Quarry songs I'm not that fond of)! Add "Seasick.." and I could die happy hearing that set.

Both times I saw Moz back in '99/'00 he played "Meat is Murder" as the first encore. Never my fav Smiffs song, but live it was like a soul-searing experience.

Were there any people from the crowd who jumped up on stage and hugged him? Apparently that happed at his Toronto show.

I refuse to answer that question...

sex while/after touching Moz

6-7 folks jumped, one or two actually made it on stage. Moz was very gracious and made an effort to go to whomever was coming over the railing. He seemed pissed when the bouncers pulled some folks away before he could get to them. I had planned on jumping the rail, but there was a bouncer in my immediate area, and figured it was a waste of time.

It's actually been quite common for at least the last 10-15 years. Check out the Hulmerist video, especially during Sister I'm a Poet.

The end of Live in Dallas still gives me chills. That ever come out on DVD? My vhs is going to turn to dust the next time I watch it.

Nope, no DVD. My copy is on its last legs. I need to rip it to DVD before it dies.

At least Hulmerist and Malady are out. I need to replace my aching VHS copy of Hulmerist.

Nashville show was fantastic. There Is a Light That Never Goes Out got cut short when a barrage of people began rushing the stage and security couldn't handle it. They pulled him off the stage and the band wrapped the song up after about half of the first verse. It was disappointing and awesome at the same time. Great show.
