Comcast offers a new service called On-Demand which allows me to watch programs anytime i want by selecting them, kinda the same way Pay Per View works, but for free.
They have a concert channel that has shows from The Stills, an entire 80 minute concert by the Mars Volta. History channel, MTV, and other networks also provide shows. This is pretty neat, but since I get HBO i can watch any of the movies that are on HBO anytime I want. I'm currently watching The Abyss.
I have a Tivo, but that only catches what I miss on TV. On-Demand allows me to watch something even if there is nothing on the normal channels.

anyone have or use on-demand?

Were getting it along with Comcasts tivo service next month. So i'll probably get one or the other in my room and upgrade. Sounds like a great thing to get though. I think i might go the on demand route cause whatever i miss i got bt to get so its all good. How big is the collection of movies that they have on HBO on demand?

Like 35. Stars has 130 movies via On-Demand.

On-Demand only has cable TV though. No network, and the normal 'On-Demand' channels are a little lame. But with any of the movie channels, it rules :D

I hope I get On-Demand soon in my area (bay area, ca) :(

I have been waiting for it since they tested it in other areas years ago and since I heard about the anime channel and other wonderful on-demand channels that you have mentioned

On demand is not all that great unless you also have the premium channels. Lot of the channels don't have much content. Probably because it would cut into their dvd sales and ad revenues. Also, none of the content is in high definition. If you have a tivo, on demand is pretty much useless.

In San Diego, the service is called Cox On-Demand. Sounds like a male escort service...

I've had on Demand with TWC for almost a year now. HBO and Showtime both have a lot of movies, and all of their series (Curb Your Enthusiasm, Sopranos, Bullshit), they also have comedy specials, and adult viewing (HBO: Real Sex, Taxicab Confessions. Showtime: typical premium channel adult movies). Cinemax never has many movies, and the skinemax selection isn't that great either. Haven't seen Starz On Demand though. They usually get the best movies on the Starz channels, going to call and find out about that.

Tivo is great once you set it up. But if your flipping through the channels and nothing is on, you can just go select a movie from on-demand.
I love my Tivo, but On-Demand lets me watch movies whenever.

I have HBO on demand. I get to catch up on Curb your Enthusiasm as well as other shows. But they do not have all the episodes on there at once (which sucks). Like right not they have 5 episodes of CYE for a month at a time.

So even though they have things on demand the changeover time is too long for me.

My OnDemand has the Anime channel as well as Boomerang, neither of which I can actually subscribe to. HBO On Demand is great, I work Sunday nights so seeing the Soprano's was easier than it could have been unless I had VHS'd it. We get local news OnDemand as well.

I'm subscribed to Time Warner's cable service who also host a free on-demand service (with pay movies as well). Here it's unwatchable- on the off-chance that the video actually loads without error, within seconds there's corrupted video that locks up.

They were of no help when we called them regarding this problem.

Conclusion: Time Warner on demand sucks balls.

how many splitters between your box and the pole from which the cable comes from? too many splitters will give you bad signal strength. also a bad splitter will do the same thing. another thing to check out is the amount of cable from your box to the pole.

Also very likely that you don't have high bandwidth cable running at some point. I had to have some replaced. Otherwise On Demand was glitchy, just like you describe.
