One Psone gem that should be in your collection

Ps. Screens actually don't do the game credit

A screen showing an outerspace Rubik's Cube floating next to the words "dragon" and "rabbit" doesn't do the game credit? This game looks AWESOME.

Ninja was some pure SHIT. anyway....

INTERNAL SECTION - best. square. game. ever.
Geez. Those screens look so much more awesome than I remember the game being. Then again, I didn't play it for very long. I'm thinking I might have to dig it back up and play more of it tomorrow.

I would also like to concur with everyone saying that Ninja was crap. I wanted it to be good. :(

You all need to do yourselves a favor and check this game out, it has some of the most gorgeous art you will ever see.

I'll try to keep it obscure, though most of the good ones were already taken.

Not really obscure, but Grandia, and the LUNARs are really good, and I don't think anyone else mentioned them.

It's a shame it was released after the ps2 system in NA, as it was overshadowed by the crappy ps2 lauch titles. You all need to do yourselves a favor and check this game out, it has some of the most gorgeous art you will ever see.

Valkyrie Profile was released in August 2000. A few months before the PS2 was released in North America. I know this, because I bought it along with RE: Survivor back then from EB.

Anyway, how about... Tobal #1? Sure, it's much surpassed by most fighting games nowadays, (I still lament the lack of the 2nd one in NA.) but, aside from Tobal #2, Dream Factory has yet to make a better game. I still love the combat system.

I'd like to say that Tobal's biggest strength is that it isn't surpassed by most fighting games nowadays. It holds up remarkably well still, even graphically due to the style choice.

Yeah I know I got the release date confused with FF:IX I went back and edited it before your post. :D

Nanotek Warrior and N2O, two really good "tube" blasters that recieved no love.

Oh and I don't care what anyone says, Croc was a damn good game.

Ninja? Are you insane? That game was HORRIBLE!

If you're gonna get an awesome PSone game that no one gave a rat's ass about, make it either Silent Bomber, Wild 9's, Xevious 3D+G, or Tail Concerto.

I actually bought Tail Concerto for 2$ yesterday :lol

edit: I saw incredible crisis for 25$ last night too. Is it worth it?

I saw Incredible Crisis in an EB the other day for $8, which is what I paid for it elsewhere. $25 seems steep.

What the hell is it? A shooter?

DIGITAL ART SHOOTING is the genre Square invented for it at the time. It's actually not that much of a stretch. It's basically a stylish and trippy tube-shooter with levels that pulsate with the music. You can also put in a CD of your own music and let it build levels around it, which works surprisingly well.

I've always wanted to play this but never got the opportunity. It's a rare game now, and pretty much impossible to find used, right?

Does anyone know if there were any compatibility issues for play on the PS2?

And I thought I heard at one point talk of a follow up, either for PS2 or GBA. Any sequels coming down the pipe?

Fill me in guys! I know this game would be right up my alley.

There's a stack of greatest hits sitting at my TRU. $15 a piece.

NINJA?!?!!?!!! BWAAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHA!!! Just about every other game mentioned in this thread qualifies as a "gem" but NINJA!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?! BWAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHA, no.

Here's my pick, Poitter's Point (Poy Poy) 2:

One of the very best, and certainly one of the most underappreciated multiplayer party games ever made. It's like Poy Poy 1 with twice the number of stages, characters, and gloves, and some really kickass music to boot.

Shit I totally forgot to list Destrega (and I even mentioned in the Winback 2 thread last night!).

And if I knew imports was also applicable, I would have easily mentioned Internal Section. Perhaps Shinji Hosoe's best work ever.

And Slap Happy Rhythm Buster is pretty cool too.

Suikoden 2 was awesome to sell on ebay for $140.

The winners are:

Vagrant Story
Valkyrie Profile
Chrono Cross

BTW Ninja wasn't a horrible game, but it wasn't great either. It was average. Ninja Gaiden and Shinobi stomp over it.
Those are exactly my 3 favorite PSone games

Ninja is probably the worst "big name studio" game to be released on the PS1. What a disgusting game!

Some really great titles mentioned here, but I'm shocked noone mentioned Parappa the Rappa!! Too bad the later titles didn't do the original justice.

parappa-e.jpg
omg so fucking cute.

I also had fond memories of MGS, all of the FF's of course. And most Squaresoft games.

Twisted Metal 2, damn it!

Runners Up:
-Einhander
-Tecmo Deception Series
-Final Fantasy Tactics

And just for kicks...

N64: Beetle Adventure Racing! :)

chippoke ralph no daibouken. because it's the best platformer ever. and because r-type delta was already taken. the ps1 versions of donpachi and dodonpachi are also ridiculously great.

Discovered it thanks an Aussie friend that was so kind to send me a copy. Awesome game with a musical score composed by Michiru Yamane, awesome character design and hyper cool mechanics, this is how a 3D shooter should be !

gungage.jpg

Awesome graphics and cool stories: Fear Effect 1 & 2.

All the other have been already mentioned...

I was thrilled because the Internal Section pics...Gotta pick this one :)
