was just listening to some tracks off XO and remembered his death was around this time last year, so I looked up the date and pow, one year ago today.

I'll admit, one of the very few musical artist deaths that ever really hit me. I remember exactly what I was doing when I read about his death too......I came back from some field trip for my american vernacular architectrual history class and was sitting in my room at my computer around 6:00 or so, interestingly enough, listening to his song Waltz #1 off of XO, watching it rain outisde my window. Then I read about his death on some forum, and I was depressed.

It's the only "celebrity death" that got me choked up and made an impact. I remember reading about it on Pitchfork and immediately phoning my gf who was a big Elliot fan.

That's exactly what I was thinking. I remember the moment I read about his death like it was last week, and I can't friggin believe it's already been a year.
