So I'm going to apply for a job at Athlete's World and supposedly there's a group interview thing. I need this job badly cause I'm pretty short of cash... so in short...

1) What can I expect at this group interview?

2) Any advice for when I do go/ how to improve my chances of getting the job?

Thank you GA. Those who help... Mariohat offers you his protection :)

Shave and grab your best suit (if you don't have a suit, a nice shirt and tie works). Stand out on that first impression as much as possible.

Since it's group, you won't have too much time to impress with anything except your appearance and your handshake.

...of course it's also a job at some retail store, so it shouldn't be too big of a deal.

When I hire for my department where I work, I look for enthusiasm above all.

Be enthusiastic about the job and the product, even if you're selling anal plugs. Walk in there with a smile and your head high. Answer all questions thoughtfully yet (as I mentioned) enthusiastically and you should be all right.

If that fails, whore yourself out.

Yeah, attitude is very important. Come in with self confidence and a huge smile.

EDIT - Honestly though, it's retail. You just need to come in with a presentable appearance and a positive attitude. I doubt they'll expect anything more than that.

Pretend like you can work any shift at any time. BE FLEXIBLE.

Don't go in there giving ideal schedules and potential vacations. The last thing someone wants to hear from a new hire is that they need time off. Especially in retail.

Don't overdo it on the enthusiasm thing. No one likes a spaz.

:lol

Ah, group interviews -- such fun. They're not as bad as it first seems. :) Use the typical interview rules (ex. confidence, enthusiasm, etc.), but also be sure to make eye contact with everyone when answering questions, not just the person who asks.

Oh I've had one of these before. When answering a question, be sure to think before you speak and do not repeat yourself too much and try to have lengthy answers (to take away time to let the interviewers get to know the others). And I think they will ask you to do something crazy like run around a room and express yourself in a different behaviour. Just do it with enthusiasm.

Where can one buy a hat of this quality? All the ones on eBay look horrible. I'm assuming that's from Japan's Club Mario thing, meaning buying one off of some seedy eBayer is going to cost a fortune?
